You make a reasonable point, but think of how this can, and will, escalate. If you tag anything with Derpy in it as “potentially controversial”, sooner or later you’ll have to tag things like lesbian shipping, because there are still people who find that offensive.
 
I think you had a nice idea, but I don’t think it should be implemented.

How about just adding the tag? From there, people can filter it out or set it to spoiled or leave it as they desire. Or even search for it.

If I can get some support for this, we could petition the mods about it. The political/religious/drama arguments can just get really tiring, even for me, and it might be a good idea to start spoilering images that cause them, so that people can avoid things.
