Cool thanks cryo! :) Honestly until today I never knew what actually defines a crackship. Fir some reason I never bothered to look it up.O.o That ones one though. :(

Eh. It is very simple. Ship two characters. Are they from the same canon and have them met in that canon? If yes, no matter what the nature of that meeting was, it is simply a ship. Crackshipping is only if the two have never met. As pointed out above to TheMultiBrony21, “crossovers” (characters from different shows/books/whatever) have obviously never met.

Just don’t think too hard about it. If you have to start asking odd questions about if they’re even from the same canon or not, then chances are they’re probably not. If they are from the same canon, then figure out if they’ve met. It’s usually pretty obvious if they have.

Oh, well thanks for clearing that up. I got two very different answers to what it was. Never thought my art would be such a can of worms. :( This ship vs crack ship stuff is confusing. And I’m head deep in crackships apparently.

It had [crackshipping] added by TheMultiBron21. I’d removed the tag because it was, at that time, simply marked as [Twilight Sparkle].

Seems like BP#5A4E is claiming to be Zala661 (the artist), and MysteriousStranger is claiming to be KiwiJr (the commissioner). Either way, the source’s description on Deviantart confirms it is intended to be SciTwi.

Princess Twilight and Aria Blaze have met. ScriTwi and Aria Blaze have not. Since this is SciTwi it is indeed crackshipping.

I thought it only applied if they were from au and not the same one. At least from what I understand.

Technically if the conversation is correct below this isn’t a crackship. This is very much scitwi and aria from EQG so it doenst fall under the crackship category. Also removed it when it was added and not by me the artist. You can see it was taken off by someone else under the change tags.

That would be crackshipping, yes. Crossovers are all crackshipping by definition, unless a particular series has a canon inclusion of characters from some other series in it.

Since neither Transformers (any generation) and MLP (any generation) have never had any canon crossing over, it’s all crackships if you do.

Not exactly crackshipping, seeing as they met in Rainbow Rocks. If this were specified to be SciTwi (and the ponytail sort of hints at that, but the lack of glasses hints otherwise), then it’d be crackshipping.

Yes, I realize a lot of folks misuse the term to refer to any ship that isn’t popular/common, but the word does have an actual meaning.
