As implied by the “usually” in my first sentence there, this winghug is unusual.  
My point is to point out a detail of this image which is different from what might otherwise be expected.  
Pointing out things which differ from expectation is a common element of general conversation due to the fact that unexpected phenomena highlight ways in which one may update and refine their models and understandings of the world.

I don’t think Trixie is a pupil ( outside of learning more about magic to add to her act ). They’re simply best friends. If anything they’re learning more about friendship from one another. And they certainly have a way of testing each other, that’s fore sure.
 
But I’ve personaly discovered that such tests usually make for the strongest of friendships.
