(Spoiled text only references S9 Episode 8, and the premiere at the bottom. Nothing regarding this hasn’t aired on DF.)
Looking back on this, I have a feeling that if they were to ever at least stop being actively villainous, stop being an active threat at least, then they just might end up pretty well off, all in all. Yes, that would probably apply to even Tirek if it were to happen, which isn’t entirely off the table, it seems like, since they seem to be hinting him, Chrysalis, and Cozy could become better than they are, that their hearts aren’t pure black.
Think about Discord. Yes, the three of them might be notably more evil, but Discord was relatively power-hungry in his own way, brainwashing others for the hell of it, among other things. If there was indeed hope for him, when he didn’t have a backstory that really excused his actions, at least in the show so far? There’s probably at least a shred of hope for most villains. The standard was set by Nightmare Moon being reformed, and as it was originally planned by the writers, her plans would’ve killed everyone.
@Mention Pony
We might need some backstory and origin of Cozy Glow.
She must’ve hated powerlessness since she was a new born foal, for some reasons, she struggles to make friends, jealous of other ponies, especially adults and those are in position of authorities, struggle to wanted to be loved. Her past powerlessness made her life struggling, and some incidents might’ve happened to her parents, somepony else killed them, and she blames her powerlessness out of anything, leading to think power is everything into her deep sub-conscious mind.
When someone became evil, there’s always reasons to be. Even knowing reasons, it is up to themselves to choose between good or evil, and if they continue to choose evil, then they are giving up to their own ignorance and have to face punishment until feel done with it to the point of realizing the truth about life ideology.
(Basically, they values something else over friendship, however, villains can be forgiven and reformed if they value friendship, love, peace, abundance and/or prosperity as the top priorities. They’ll fail to reform if they value grudge satisfaction, winning and/or control manipulating over what’s good mentioned.)
Even for Tirek (Scorpan issues or whatsoever), and Chrysalis (probably starvation struggles which corrupted her ideology in life), and Sombra (corrupted due to technical issues).
I used to think evil once (for a short time, corrupted by insecure feelings), but never dare to do evil, only just said evil to scare the shit out of people I used to hate, so I understand what it is like to be redeemed, the values of life in mind matters as it places which side you are on. To be honest, I am redeemed by a game called Minecraft, and with the help of university teachers and friends combined. Which is a bit before I came to this website.
@sTs
I’d go into detail as to why I don’t think Cozy Glow was trying to be Nyx, but that would probably be counterproductive since they should know why it’s not the case.
Good point.

@Background Pony #76FF
Sombra really got rekt multiple times.
Time will tell if anyone shares his fate… my guess is that if anyone else will die unreformed, it’s Grogar.

Oh, this trope is indescribable.
Nah she is a pony and this is better
Maybe she is a Self-Made Orphan.
Or not even a pony.
Does this imply her parents are dead?
But that was too much to ask for.
If I was baiting I’d have done a better job.
Nope.
I was only proving a point.
Hmmm… so there isn’t either…

I don’t think he’s baiting us.
Nice bait
