Actually they would own the entire thing, as “the meme” is composed entirely of movie stills and text from the script, i.e. what you call a meme is merely constantly reposting their property.
 
I suppose if the line “One does not simply walk into Mordor” is itself not their property (e.g. because that was in the original book), then they would consequently not be able to make a claim on the text.
 
The fact remains that a “meme” isn’t even a thing that’s recognized legally. A parody is, but most memes do not have sufficient creativity (or original expression to begin with) to maintain a transformation-based defense.

All memes are made on other peoples art, movies, pictures.
 
Do the maker of Lord of the Rings own the “One does not simply” meme? No.  
Does the creator of the meme owns the right do the movie. No.
 
So memes seem to be a free for all.

Hm? When I added fifteen artist tags, users removed it by consensus and left only author of collage. They justified it by saying that source URL already contained the list of artists.

I also would’ve excepted:  
“When someone doesn’t feel the need to tag artists’ in a juxtaposition image using someone else’s art”.  
Because godammit do people who upload those things never source images/artists’

If the art is part of the meme and you do not own the art then you do not own the meme
