Yeah, he can fight but like you said, his honour and clear knowledge of his strength stopped him from maiming/killing these new generation of Diamond Dogs.
Honestly, I blame Spike’s inflated sense of honor over the DD’s combat prowess. He probably could have fended them off, but rather than kill his accusers, he submitted.
