I found one must be particularly cautious when doing pyrography on leather for it darkens a lot faster than wood or cork (the latter burning faster than wood). We are talking of splitseconds here so using different shades is a challange, but an interesting one. Another challenge that leather provides is that unlike wood or cork it is a rather yielding surface (at least in case of this wallet rather than I expect just a one layer piece of leather would be).
I burned the stylized royal sisters from the first episode onto the front of the wallet and the symbol for the Elements of Harmony on the back.

I am going to offer this wallet at a silent auction at a brony meetup in Cologne this Saturday. Chances are though that it isn’t going to be sold simply because the starting bit has to be relatively high.
Just the wallet cost 10€ in a store and I spent more than four hours working on the pyrographies on both sides of the wallet (more time in fact for the predrawing without which the pyrography couldn’t have become accurate than for the actual pyrography itself). So if I charge my regular price for commissions in addition to the material costs that wallet would end up at about 60€. For the starting bit in the silent auction I am going to pick a lower sum, but chances are still that it isn’t going to get any bids.
I admit the main reason I am not very active in trying to get comission is that these crafts take a lot of time to finish and if that time is paid fairly (or even if minimum per hour wages are applied) the resulting sums are quickly on a level which few people would be ready to pay.
In case the wallet isn’t sold there and in case you are fine with the price I am happy to offer it to you (or accept commissions for other mlp motives you might want to see pyrographed into a wallet of that kind) :)
