Por más fan que sea de la teoría de que Ocellus es la hija de Chrysalis sigue siendo una teoría aparte esa cambiante biológica o no sigue siendo la madre de Ocellus

Lunar Supporter - Helped forge New Lunar Republic's freedom in the face of the Solar Empire's oppressive tyrannical regime (April Fools 2023).

I can just see it being Ocells’s “parents” being assigned drones looking after her(and maybe then adopt the whole full parent thing after reforming) since Chrysalis was too busy with royal duties and too many smol buggos to look after.

I think that’s how it works irl insects too with queens. The queen having worker drones assigned to look after some of the young.

Unfortunately, the ‘mommy Chrysalis’ concept now requires the headcanon invention of a hive-wide adoption system in order to continue functioning, as you’ve mentioned, whereas my own theories can just be assumed, now. I’m surprised they gut punched the long standing theory without any elaboration but I’ll not complain.

I’ve built a series of fanfics exploring the modern changelings, giving insights about their society. Built off how Thorax referred to his hive as a ‘pack’ in Triple Threat, I’m of the headcanon that the changelings behave more as pack animals now, a massive family dynamic made up of smaller families. Thorax is a cinnamon roll so seeing him act all paternal with the changelings seems totally in character. :)

I suppose it’s a matter of taste. I personally find the idea of them all sharing one mother and/or being a hivemind more interesting. It makes them more alien, and makes their values more insectoid, which isn’t something explored in detail that much because we’re not accustomed to sentient creatures who are this thouroughly collectivized.

I see far more people trying to argue for Chrysalis being the sole brood mother, even after Ocellus’s parents debuted, than I see people saying the opposite. I’ve always felt rather alone in that quest.

Personally find the changelings to be more interesting, the less their society was entirely built around Chrysalis. Personally find it more interesting of a lore concept that Chrysalis forcibly took and raised the young changelings of the hive to be warriors under her watch, as the ancient Romans did with young boys. ‘Oh well she’s the brood mother they’re all her children the end’ is less interesting than alternatives from a storytelling perspective, to me personally. Has nothing to do with bad vs good parenting.

While I personally just think the skittlebugs are just imitating the idea of a nuclear family since Chrysalis’ departure and the bug is Ocellus’ ‘mom’ and the same sense as adoptive parents are, I do have to wonder why some people almost seem to want it to be true that Chryssie isn’t the sole brood mother. Is that because they believe a ‘good’ changeling should not have an ‘evil’ mother?

I hate to say it, but that sounds narrowminded. Bad parents can still raise good children, and some innocent parents have atrocious offspring. Ocellus being a child of Chrysalis does not make her less nice, and would actually explain her timidity and shame at being stuck as her in “What Lies Beneath”.

We’ll probably not get a clear answer on changeling reproduction, because kids show. So we’ll just have to go by headcanon anyway.

I hate when people defend retconned lore. even if there are bugs who have queens and ordinary breeding the writers didn’t know that they hadn’t been consistent since season 6

YES. THANK YOU. I hate when people think they’re smart and know about a topic despite doing no research themselves and just making assumptions based on random bits of information they heard. Plenty of bug species have both queens AND reproduction between non-queens of the species. Bugs are not a homogenous “everything is the same for all insects” group.

They’re only part bug, they’re also partly equine. The assumption that the queen should lay all the eggs is just as much speculation as anything else. :3

No, not nessecarily. The Ancient Rome militia took young boys away from thier families to raise them as hardened warriors. Chrysalis could have done similar. She could have declared all young changelings to be her jurisdiction, as queen, to raise under her eye as the next generation of loyal, subservient followers. Raised does not imply birthed, it just means raised.

Spiracle and Carapace were confirmed to be Ocellus’s parents in A Horse Shoe-In, so the traditionalist changeling theory of Chrysalis being the biological mother of all changelings holds far less water than it ever used to.

Thorax’s first episode he says “… I was raised by an evil Queen” so either Thorax is, (and by extension his brother) the prince of the hive from day one or changelings follow typical hive species rules and the queen is mother of all

lol, well, now it really is canon. Ya’ll gonna have to get over it.

Chrysalis birthed all the changelings and raised them to be warriors for her.

Changelings were always born from an assortment of females, like mammals - like ponies - and Chrysalis merely collected all the eggs so that she could raise them as warriors for her. Likely did so before the parents got attached.

Kinda makes her even more of a bitch. lmao

There’s still the issue of Ocellus clearly being older than how long the Changelings have been colorful. We’re never given any indication that Changelings grow up quickly in the show; that’s a fandom thing.

Chrysalis being the sole hive-mother before Thorax makes sense. She’s a dictator and lords over her army and forces them to love her. The other changelings finding ways to be fertile after joining Thorax would be another symbol of breaking free
