mlp would be ending soon
sonic fans usually compare mlp characters and fanbase to have similarities, the mane six had gone quite farther of their lives than what sonic fans usually see.
@neo4812
I was screwing with you obviously, besides, I’m not that bothered by a silhouette. (That so-called “leaked” Sonic design turned out false BTW.)
@northern haste
That’s basically all I know him from. Though, to be honest most voice actors are kinda obscure, and not in the media spotlight like Jim Carry has been in for decades. So I don’t think Ben got the role for “Star power.”
@northern haste
Is Ben even that popular? I never heard of him before.
@DaveMan1000
I don’t know if “resemble” is the right choce of words, seeing as the characters’ looks & outfits are much different from the game canon. Knuckles is taller, and more buff looking, Eggman’s physique and mustache are different, Sonic’s spikes & arms are different. Surprisingy, Metal Sonic & Shadow were the only characters that resembled their game counterparts. (Though, Shadow’s personality was changed to be more villainous in this SB canon.)
So it’s not just the voices, and granted Sonic was kinda laid back in the “Sonic X” anime canon too.
@Beau Skunky
I think the reason why they chatted someone like Ben was for star power (same for Jim Carrey) the sonic brand is too popular but not really enough to get a lot of people in the theatre
@Beau Skunky
Perhaps they allowed it as it’s a completely different interpretation of the character, so it should be reflected not just in his look, but his voice too?
Sonic Boom is the odd one out, as the characters resembled their official counterparts just enough that they could have the same voices, though the deliveries were almost completely different:
Sonic sounds more laid back
Amy sounds more mature
Tails sounds more masculine despite still being played by a woman
Knuckles sounds less headstrong
Eggman sounds more witty and less threatening
Orbot and Cubot have lost the robotic sounds in voices
As for Jaleel White, as awesome as it would be if he made a cameo, I doubt the filmmakers will go that far.
@DaveMan1000
I’m sure he’ll be a good Sonic voice. I’m a li’l surprised Sega allowed a new voice for him, as usually they have a strict rule that the characters can only have one official voice. (This is why Roger Craig Smith voiced Sonic in “Wreck-it Ralph,” and why after “Sonic X” premiered in 2003, they replaced the entire game cast with the 4Kids anime localization cast.)
I kinda hope Jaleel White (the original Sonic) gets a cameo appearance somewhere in the movie. (Kinda like Stan Lee.)
@Beau Skunky
I’m more open to Tom Wachowski, as he’s played by James Marsden, who I’ve always enjoyed. Plus this won’t be the first time he’s played opposite to a CGI character (Hop; yeah it was bad, but he was great), so we know he’s got experience in this field.
Even if Sonic’s new design won’t fly, at least they got a great actor to voice him; someone who has had plenty of experience in voice acting.
Check this video for some snippets of Schwartz’s other performances from various cartoons and tell me you don’t hear Sonic coming from that guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7oMq699RR8

Yeah, gatta have the gloves, I say. Maybe he’ll get them, and his trademark white stripe/strap shoes later in the movie.
Yeah, while the “buddy cop” thing bug many Sonic fans, (especially, as it gives them flashbacks to Sonic X’s Chris Thorndyke, another token human audience avatar character) as you said, a simpler plot might be better then trying to make an overly “epic” one.
Know what I want to see in the movie? I hate to sound cliché, but Metal Sonic making a surprise appearance at the climax (with foreshadowing, as Eggman has to make it first) would be cool.
I’m not a Pokémon guy whatsoever (suffered from over-saturation), but Detective Pikachu is on my watch list for sure.
As for Sonic, yeah I’ll go see it like the loyal fan that I am, but I’m apprehensive about it, especially since this silhouette is the only thing we have to to go off for the new redesign. The blue arms never phased me (nor did they for Sonic Boom), and I could potentially get used to the new sneakers, but you can’t have him without his gloves at least.
The cast is good, James Marsden, Jim Carrey and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic. And the whole “buddy cop” vibe the movie’s going for doesn’t seem to far-fetched for a Sonic story; I’d prefer something small and simple over something convoluted and nonsensical (06 anyone?).
But I do wish they’d just show the finished design so we can stop all the memes already!
Detective Pikachu sounds promising, and while I have some doubts about StH, it is being made by the Deadpool people, and such, so the humor, and action might still be worthy of what the series is known for. Plus, I hope Jim Carry is a good Robotnik/Eggman, as the character is rather goofy, but can have a dark side, so Jim might be suitable as the character.
That said, I’m not too bothered by the Sonic silhouette, but I kinda wish they’d reveal his final look soon to at least justify the complaining a bit. Though, regardless I hope they improve it.
Nope! (I’m the one that said the movie has a twist btw) Ash isn’t even in the movie! But good guess!
let me guess the father was ash? don’t tell me what it really is just tell me if im right or wrong
the bastard better be fixed goodkill it.Well not false just old. Although apparently the person who confirm the leaks to the leak was just a Paramount employee

I was talking about the sonic one
Yeah, that pikachu is pure nightmare fuel.
not to mention leonardo
Star power is really all I can think of except maybe someone just really liked him. I guess maybe they wanted a more comedic actor
