Fair enough.
Faust. She built up the alicorn mystique.
I agree with you. I think she’s stronger than the average pony, though I didn’t really make that clear with my original comment.. I would just like to know where the assumption of her being god-level comes from, considering it’s not at all supported by anything she’s done.
Edited
Naturally not. We have people who assume she has nigh unlimited power. That she is one punch mare. Then we have people who assume she has enough to do her job and little else.
I fall in the middle. From what I have seen, she’s at the very least very long lived, she has bested foes who are considered powerful in their own right, but she doesn’t seem to have much experience with ‘being a hero’.
I think she’s around demigod level. Beyond normal ponies, but well below godhood. I do however think she has enough power that she hesitates to exercise its use. Ponies are big on reformation, and it’s difficult to reform a pile of ashes.
I never said raising the sun didn’t require real magic, don’t put words in my mouth. I’m aware of the magical strain raising the Sun put on regular ponies who didn’t have the actual sun itself as their special talent. As what you quoted says, Celestia had a “special power to raise the sun all by herself”, meaning the magic she gained from her cutie mark was not the strength to raise the sun, but rather it was a type of magic specific to her.
The Tirek thing I can see where you’re getting at, but the majority of unicorns in Equestria don’t have very much magical power to begin with. They use it for mundane tasks such as telekinesis. What you’re saying also assumes that the four princesses are the same power level. It’s possible that Cadence, a princess whose magic is fueled by love, an extremely prevalent feeling and debatably more powerful attraction than friendship, provided more power to Twilight, who was also fueled by friendship, the thing that kinda defines magic in this world. So it still doesn’t prove Celestia is this overpowered near god-level being that the fandom makes her out to be.

No, you see, there you’re confusing headcanon for, you know, anything factual. You assume raising the sun doesn’t require any real magic.
So let’s think about what we have heard from the show about raising the sun.
Now, part of what makes it easier for Celestia is, in fact, that she has a talent for it. But, even with a talent, those same unicorns used to be able to do that job for maybe a year, and then they had to retire. It was taxing to the point where doing it for longer could very well kill them.
So, she has a talent, and a pool of magic big enough that she doesn’t find it taxing. As for magical strength, consider this.
Luna, Celestia and Cadence all combined their power into Twilight just before the fight with Tirek. Now, Celestia had mentioned she did not have the power to match him one on one, because he’d been stealing the magical from an entire nation by then.
So, we have Twilight, beefed up on magic from Celestia, Luna, and Cadence, vs the power of an entire nation of ponies, plus Discord.
Twilight fought to a stalemate.
So, that’s why we think Celestia is probably pretty strong.
But that’s her cutie mark. Her magic isn’t strong, it’s specific.
besides, you know, raising the sun
If by sneaky you mean I’ve been openly stating my opinion just as you’ve been stating yours, yes, I am very sneaky.
Apologies if you were offended or annoyed, I do get what you’re saying. They could do better. They should do better. But… they won’t and can’t.
Sneaky aren’t you?
And Rainbow Dash seems happy for what she unleashed.
I’d like to thank the academy…
Seriously though, both of you… I’ve been agreeing with you for the most part, my only point in all of this is that yes, we’d like to see her kick ass, but there are various reasons that will not happen in the show. I mean, I firmly believe that she is a fantastic lover too, but it won’t be seen on canon either.

Congratulations man, you don’t know what the hell you are talking about, you cherry-pick arguments and you have thus earned my very own, and unimportant, trophy of the troll!
Because while I don’t like it, I can understand it. The meta reason is corporate doesn’t care about Celestia, but in story, she still has an important role, just not the one we want for her.
I inferred that because I didn’t assume you were replying for zero point whatsoever. My mistake /s/.
And, again, you defending it was the only reason you were replying to everyone else. What were you doing in the last quote then, arguing just for the sake of arguing? Every single person here knows the corporate logic and how bad it is, so why were you replying to anyone about it at all if you hate it as well?
We’re you just trying to be objectionable, or are you backpedaling? What the hell are you on? I’m out.
I never said I liked that method of writing, you just inferred that because you could argue against it. Frankly I hate that I won’t see her kick ass, I’m just not delusional enough to believe my wants matter to hasbro.
What happened to
You seemed pretty okay with the idiotic corporate method just a little while ago. Everyone here already knows how bullshit the writing got due to corporate cowardice S4 and onwards, nothing your saying is new or interesting. So why were you replying at all to everyone here advocating their methods just a bit earlier? Your just backpedaling now.

The writing has been garbage from season 4 onward. And I don’t care about corporate’s wants, but I do acknowledge that corporate dictates what the show is. If they wanted Celestia the asskicker, we would have her. They don’t. They apparently want what we’ve gotten.
So you admit the narrative is garbage from a writing perspective, and only barely works from a corporate perspective that fans don’t even care about?
Why the flip do you care about the corporate narrative?
The reality is Hasbro doesn’t consider having her kick ass to be of use to the narrative. I get that’s what we want to see, but it’s not important to them. If you want that, you have fan works.
Except the fact is they are capable of kicking ass. That’s a fact, and your interpretation of importance, to ignore facts, does not matter to anyone but yourself.
You’re ignoring the reality for a mind numbling narrative. As @moonlightaveger said, what are you on?
Edited
Let me spell it out plainly. Her importance is not to be the hero of the story, she is the linchpin of the land, the cornerstone. The target. She’s well known, very visible, and that makes her the immediate goal of any attacking force to take her out first. And we’ve seen why. Without the princesses, the military has nopony to direct them. They are important for their leadership, not for their ability to kick ass and take names.
So, you say that a character being important in-universe doesn’t mater to the story. Okay. That’s enough for me.
What are you on, dude?
Important in universe, but not in story. In story, her role us mentor, and ruler, not hero. Celestia is often seen as a chessmaster in fanon. Her role on the board is not the Queen’s. She’s the king, the one you must topple to win the game.
