One definition of Mary Sue includes being befriended with a(n) (almost) omnipotent being. It’s generally considered deus ex machina when a protagonist or an ally can easily overcome a villain.

It took Tirek catching him off-guard to defeat him, and he was probably at or close to as strong as 4 alicorns since he barely grew afterwards, my theory being he couldn’t efficiently “convert” chaos magic, maybe he was generally inefficient with magic period, since part of it went to youth restoration and size.
 
Did anyone really think Sombra was at Tirek vs Twilight or Discord level when Celestia and Luna could kick his ass (they didn’t mention the Elements, which were needed for Discord), and Celestia was still putting up a fight on her possible lonesome (since she quite possibly killed Nightmare Moon) years later in his alternate timeline?

I feel bad for sombra. When he came in to the show first time i felt tht he had portential. A bit of a mystery and scary but this turned in him into a standered joke. Just my opinion.

Because I expected the Sombra of the third season. Instead I saw a Sombra Scar.

Discord: A reality-warping chaos god.  
Sombra: A unicorn obsessed with crystals and DARKNESS.
