I mean, this isn’t statistically significant or anything, just one site blog and its commenters, and the tone of the post was probably a factor, but… does it look like it was a popular opinion at the time?

If you’re a vocal minority, you’d probably feel a need to make your voice heard more, so that’s how I rationalize it, anyway.
 
I think it was a quarter or so people, at most that believed it back then, being generous.
 
I have no way of knowing for sure though, what the exact percentage was.

Nope even after that episode plenty of people were screaming that idea as reality. Heck, I even remember a few memes being posted on here after that episode.

That’s a good question, but sadly off-topic.

Why do people get so defensive? Finding a child in any sense sexually attractive is weird, people are going to judge you for it. You’d think our community would get that more than anybody. Getting defensive about it just makes it seem worse.

I hope she has a scene where one of our heroes is about to treat her like a serious threat, but then is like: “Oh right, she’s a child.” and proceeds to subdue her with hilarious ease as she struggles helplessly in a most adorable manner.

I personally think saying it was “half” the fandom that believed it is being generous.
 
The very next episode threw serious doubt on that theory, so it was mostly just a few hardcore believers in that theory that felt it held water, after that point.
