Pinkie’s got abandonment issues, really bad ones. No idea where they started, but she shows all the signs.

Pinkie acted like a small child would act if a loved one was going into the military.

it always strikes me that M.W. overdoes the personality of each pony in her episodes. imo

She does have a somewhat stronger bond with Dash than AJ or Rarity. They did pranks together and stuff.

i’m just saying, when AJ or Rarity left, she wasn’t this overtop about it  
oh, and i know perfectly well why, the writers are telling a story and while do whatever the hell they want. this is all in good fun.

I dunno. Pinkie’s always been pretty consistently afraid of any sort of negative social transaction – it’s hard for her to deal with being forgotten, ignored, or rejected (though she progressively handles it better). There’s Party of One, naturally, and then there’s how Discord deharmonized her, how she so desperately sought out Cranky Doodle’s friendship, and I guess Rainbow Dash staying away from Ponyville for a week was pretty tough, too.
 
Or maybe having a team of writers for a cartoon just naturally leads to inconsistencies. Doesn’t really matter, either way.

Genius! Guess they didn’t really want to make fun of Scoots though.

They should have replaced Pinkie with Scootaloo in this episode. Would have made more sense continuity-wise.

She acted no differently than she’s acted towards the vast majority of her friends in the past, Dash in particular. She’s just overly clingy by nature.

Remember Party of One? Pink has real abandonment issues.

Shippers be damned, this scene and most like it were adorable

Too bad it was more annoying than funny. It just wasn’t funny. Could have replaced her subplot with something better.
