Has 9 years actually passed in-universe? I kinda doubt it. I recall in Season 3 they mentioned a year passing. Not to mention Pound, Pumpkin, and Flurry should be showing signs of getting older if this is the case.

yeah but given the synopsis of this episode you’d think after nine years Twilight would understand that Pinkie Pie of all ponies is far wiser beyond her years, leaving no doubt that they’d (probably) be able to ace this trivia contest rather than just assuming that all her friends are idiots who are deliberately out to screw with her OCD/perfectionist tendencies - which in fairness given that Starlight is technically the only moderately sane adult in the entire school this isn’t entirely wrong
