I believe that we have a misunderstanding. I took your comment to be a tacit criticism of Cadance being an alicorn (whereas Faust hadn’t intended her to be). This I sincerely apologise for.
As for what you said:
“…the extra energy needs they have also means that the carrying capacity for their race is basically two.”
Uh, source? I get what you’re saying, but once again I have to ask: How much does the narrative tell us about alicorns. I’m all for fanwank and conjecture, though all I’m asking is where in every single episode aired do you get your supporting evidence to support your conjecture?
Alicorns aren’t self fertile so you need to have two for stable reproduction, however the extra energy needs they have also means that the carrying capacity for their race is basically two.
This should be incredibly self evident, whether there’s show narrative or Word of God stuff to back it up. This is basic biological fact, man.
Was it ever confirmed that Cadence was actually a Princess and an alicorn? For all we know, Princess could be her first name, and she’s just a mutant. Hell she might even be a senator.
This is one of the reasons why Faust leaving the show was ultimately best for it. This us actually a pretty stupid idea that doesn’t fit with the world.
Why disgusting? Maybe these ponies have a different and more clean digestive system than we do? Maybe they poop, but they poop a clean and unnoticeable liquid that fertilizes flowers.
We have seen toilet, and even if it was true for some farmer family, some even among the human do it in compost box, it wouldn’t be possible in high density city.
She just answer that because the question was asking for a ridiculous answer and personally I would think that their toilet are shaped the same way as us since their regular chairs are.
True. We clearly see an outhouse in that Derpy episode. Faust is great but at this point her input on the series is basically just her own very well written fan fiction.
Even she was amazed that people took her very seriously. lol

As I’ve said above: Where exactly in the narrative does it specify (explicitly or implicitly) that there are only two alicorns?
With all due respect to Faust, it does not matter what she says on the subject of Cadance, as it is not supported by the narrative.
You mean after season 2, episode 2.

Also, I smell some dirty minds lurj=king here, waiting to “draw” this out.
