Its time to filter anti-Starlight anti-Discord and anti-Discoshy people who will ruin all discussions on this site for years to come.

She has never been portrayed as flawless. Ever.

So, it’s clear you don’t even watch the show to begin with.

Starlight is one of the most beloved MAIN characters. You are in the minority, sir.

@FurriesandFlurries
If that’s how you want to see it, that’s your choice. I haven’t agreed to threaten anyone with violence, nor has that ever crossed my mind. I simply have a certain opinion towards a fictional character that I and many others perceive to be badly written. I have no idea why you think violence, even in jest, to be equivalent response. Why are you so defensive?

Either way, see ya.

@CronoM
“Show some maturity, jeezus.”

Same could be said for you. Like I said before, if you stop living in 2015/2016 when it comes to Starlight, then I might take your claims more seriously. But as it stands, considering how bias you are, that isn’t a likely possibility.
CronoM

@FurriesandFlurries
“You’re exaggerating this claim a lot more than you realize. You are aware of that, right?”

I am not. She is obviously less powerful then Discord, but her magic has been comparable and effected all three of them.

“Sorry, mate. But I haven’t seen such a thing in recent episodes.”

‘recent’ So even you, a Starlight fan, admit you HAVE seen them, just not as recently. I thought as much…

“she’s also the most overhated reoccurring character”

“Overhated” is an excuse. People do not hate thin air dude. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Where there’s criticism, there’s usually a high degree of stuff that deserves criticism.

If those are your only complaints, then we have nothing more to discuss. Follow site rules and do not be verbally agree to do violence against other users, even in jest. Show some maturity, jeezus.

“ a true Mary Sue is one who constantly gets praised to high heaven when she does something moderately right, and never gets punished when she does something wrong, never learns due to constantly being rewarded for her mistakes, and can do practically anything. She appeared out of nowhere and can do everything Twilight can do and more, Celestia and Luna and even Discord be damned.”

You’re exaggerating this claim a lot more than you realize. You are aware of that, right?

“To clarify, Starlight Glimmer isn’t ONLY a Mary Sue, she’s a Mary Sue and a Creator’s Pet mix. Of course she isn’t flawless, but since the narrative treats her as flawless, its even worse.”

Sorry, mate. But I haven’t seen such a thing in recent episodes.

“Also, statistically, she factually is the least liked reoccurring character in the entire series. Think about it. Regardless of what you think about her, there’s no pony that’s even close as her runner up in terms of the average amount of mlp fans that dislike her.”

Well, here’s another thing that statistical, she’s also the most overhated reoccurring character.

@FurriesandFlurries
The fact that you want to smack me (NO THREATS OF VIOLENCE ON THIS SITE, my god man, show some maturity and restraint.) shows how desperate and triggered you’ve become defending Starlight. I called her a Mary Sue because the narrative treats her as flawless and above any punishment, even though she’s not flawless and shouldn’t be rewarded for her inability to learn from her mistakes. What of it?
CronoM

@Background Pony #2F6C
Nah, if I want a badly written Mary Sue, I’ll look at Starlight Glimmer thank you very much. Sunset is by no means flawless, and a true Mary Sue is one who constantly gets praised to high heaven when she does something moderately right, and never gets punished when she does something wrong, never learns due to constantly being rewarded for her mistakes, and can do practically anything. She appeared out of nowhere and can do everything Twilight can do and more, Celestia and Luna and even Discord be damned. Sunset has no great power of her own beyond emotion magic, and she’s an anger and ambition junkie that still loses her patience on a consistent basis and gets called out on it, and was treated as a pariah for many months before things started to turn around with anyone besides the Mane 6. Her growth was through justified punishment, and diligent and strong willed self reflection.

To clarify, Starlight Glimmer isn’t ONLY a Mary Sue, she’s a Mary Sue and a Creator’s Pet mix. Of course she isn’t flawless, but since the narrative treats her as flawless, its even worse.

There isn’t a thing to relate to, her entire storyline is full of unwarranted power and attention with little to no personal growth or effort after her personality was reset beginning at S6 where the Mane 6 went from enemies to trusted friends off screen despite how she constantly discards the stuff they trust her with when her old habits are more convenient.

I will say that when she isn’t given too much focus, being the 2nd half of the series’ creator’s pet, she DOES serve as a pretty good straight man to Trixie’s infinitely more entertaining and well written character. She gets one point from me.

Also, statistically, she factually is the least liked reoccurring character in the entire series. Think about it. Regardless of what you think about her, there’s no pony that’s even close as her runner up in terms of the average amount of mlp fans that dislike her. That happened with the Man of Steel movie, where people weren’t sure if it was good or bad because public opinion was split down the middle, but in reality, splitting a fandom is the partial OPPOSITE of what a good character should do.

That’s all I have to say on the matter.
Background Pony #BD91
@CronoM
You are clearly clueless on what an actual Mary Sue is. A Mary sue is a character with no faults whatsoever. You want a Mary sue, look at Sunset Shimmer.

Starlight is actually a brilliantly written character that people can relate too because they suffer from some of the same problems she does.

The last few seasons were brilliantly written and this is acknowledged by most of the fandom. 7 is even considered the best one of the show.
CronoM

And thus the mary sue of the show, who’s name is almost literally Twilight Sparkle 2.0, gets the spotlight again. The most boring and implausibly the most powerful at times, like most Mary Sue’s are written.

The last few seasons have been TRAIN WRECKS, and this with the Grogar is Discord, Twilight turning into a shitty looking Celestia recolor and this shit, is all the icing on the cake.
Background Pony #BD91
I can confirm. Starlight was the best part of this finale, hands down. Such a badass.
