So was I. I figured that Discord’s long lifespan enabled him to hold together that 1000 years, and the same would be true for Chrysalis and Tirek. But Cozy Glow might not be able to deal with petrification many lifespans over.

I was not referring to lifespan, I was talking more about the psychological effect. Imagine standing for a year, fully aware but unable to move a single muscle. In Tartarus, at least Tirek could move and talk. Now he can’t even do the minimum activity to pass the time.  
Unless you’re a weirdo like Discord, your mind will go downhill.  
The good thing is that we do not see the statue in the finale, so it is possible that they either escaped, were reformed or transferred to the Tartarus for a more humanitarian sentence.

Lord Tirek has also lived for over 1000 years. The comics say Chrysalis has as well, but I don’t know how canon to take that. It’s Cozy Glow that I’m worried about.

We don’t know for sure if they can see anything in that state. Discord knew the plan but he could have just heard them say it. So for all we know they could be in eternal darkness with their only stimulation being the sounds around them.

I’ve been thinking about. Discord could manage to be turned into stone for 1000 years by being the Lord of Chaos. That trio, I don’t think so.  
I imagine that the worst part should be having the Sun in front for hours and not being able to blink.

Just relax. She will spend a few years as a statue and then she will be unpetrified and moved to Tartarus for a minor sentence.  
The worst thing that time as a statue is going to mentally break her and leave her as a shell of her former self, but it will improve when she resumes her relationship with Fluffle Puff.

Except, we don’t know if the ones who have been petrified still age while stoned.  
Considering that age is a function of the body’s biology, thus that said biology wouldn’t be doing squat while being petrified. Logic would suggest that, if anything, returning the statue to an organic state, would return all its matter to the state it was in when it was first stoned, minus wear and tear on the statue over the years. Thus, biologically speaking, it would make most sense if petrification worked like cryostasis, in that the body itself wouldn’t age while being stoned.  
The mind of the stoned individual on the other hand, is fucked…

Nah, all the pony statues in Celestia’s garden are ponies that have been turned to stone and they are still alive (remember that old fan theory?)

Tirek is actually the only one thats still alive. Cozy is more stone than pony and would just turn to dust if unpetrified. Chrysalis would leave behind a stony husk as her organs turn to dust. You can’t just turn mortal beings into stone expecting them to upkeep their morphogenic fields over centuries like immortal beings.

Realistically, if you are unpetrified after you’ve been shattered, I’m pretty sure you’ll be dead. And now that I think about it, Discord ain’t a normal creature like Chrysalis and Cozy, so by the time you unpetrify them, they’ll die of starvation, insanity and overall aging.
