The goal for my pattern update was to increase the size of these plushies, from about 4’7” to about 5’3”, which doesn’t sound like too much of a difference, but it really is in person. Rather than just doing a simple upscale I tweaked the proportions a lot, and made them look ‘taller’, longer legs and torso while still looking proportional. I also overhauled the breast pattern, making them a bit larger and more shapely, and I made a new 3D ear pattern which is really deep and nice, and also holds its shape great–no flopping over on them. I also did a few new things like making a new princess head shape with a full gusset, made some larger wings with a bit of a princess-y shape to them, and I utilized a new technique for the bellybutton which makes it a bit deeper and hopefully will last forever. I’ve had some problems on my last plushies where the bellybutton sort of faded away over time so some new techniques were needed there. I’m planning on keeping the pattern in at least semi-stasis mode now, for the sake of outfit compatibility. I would like having any outfits I make now fit on any future anthro pony, and also be able to retrofit the older ones with newer outfits. Otherwise I would be in a state of never ending development updating patterns and every time I make any sort of change.
I’ll go over some of Luna’s accessories here and how I made them and what they’re made out of:
Bikini is Nightmare Moon themed and is made with some swimwear/athletic fabric, the top just ties around the neck/back and the bottom is side tying.
Tube top with the metal ring is made with the same fabric and it is laced up in the back, you can kind of see it in the back view picture.
Skirt is made with flannel and has a button on the waistband
Shirts are made with cotton jersey Spoonflower printed fabrics. The pattern is custom made to fit these anthros since regular shirts don’t fit too great. You’ve probably seen the infamous “mega milk” shirt which I tried to recreate, and also a RD shirt because I guess Luna is a fan
Yukata is cutie mark themed obviously and it’s also Spoonflower printed minky. It comes with a sash long enough to do a proper tied bow in the back (I was too lazy haha)
Gloves are Spoonflower printed jersey fabric, the reason for printing a solid black was twofold, one they’re quite time consuming to make and this speeds it up for me, and two it allows me to make them in the future in any design or color easily, such as striped ones
Cuffs/choker/necklace attach with velcro, and the moon necklace glows in the dark
Socks are minky and they have invisible zippers in the back. I made them pretty much as long as possible
Horn ring is made with a golden spandex and the crown is minky that magnetically attaches to her head
As for some other details, she has a ponytail mane which is wired so that it can stand up on its own, and has a hair tie with a little minky moon on it. Her fingers, hand, and arms are fully wired so that they’re lightly poseable. She has a support rod inside her neck to keep her head up and also has an invisible zipper on her back for restuffing purposes. She has little hearts embroidered on the bottom of her hooves too although not pictured.
For some further quick details…
Luna is 5’3” (63”, 160cm) tall from hoof to the top of her head, not including ears/mane/horn.
Made with Royal blue Shannon cuddle3 minky, and also Royal blue Shannon luxury shag faux fur.
Eyes are machine embroidered with a minky eyelid, and cutie mark is fully minky applique with glow in the dark moons. Horn/wings/hooves are also embroidered
Mane and tail is flat (unstuffed) and has a tail dock
Entire body is triple stitched for durability
All patterns (including all outfits/accessories) and embroidery files made by me
Luna was a commission and is not for sale.
I’m hoping to make some more anthro ponies in the future someday, if anyone has any critique or constructive criticism for my pattern I would appreciate it. Thanks
Me too, I’d buy one of those to wear.
