There was some leaked emails where some of the people working on the show apparently felt she was an offensive stereotype to southerners. So ideas for a new Applejack were thrown around, including one where she is a urban pony from the city. Meghan McCarthy would like her to be voiced by Tiffany Haddish. This upset some since Tiffany Haddish is black.
