It’s done in translations of manga to show that the original dialogue was in English, so for example if someone said “I love you” it would be in brackets. The character was saying “I love you” in English like an English speaker would say “Je t’aime”
So yes, it could happen in JoJo manga to indicate they were speaking the English names of the stands or abilities. But it’s much more.
I think it’s a Jojo thing to indicate stands. I don’t know, I haven’t watched jojo.
