IDW made it clear this will be the canonical season 10, so that is the primary connection. They could try and merge the show and comic continuities though.
If you’re a wrestling fan, why watch TNA? you might as well watch drunks fight on a saturday night for a better show.

It is actually season 10. It is literally written as a 10th season, just in a comic media rather than a TV series.
Kinda like how the Stargate Atlantis books are considered the follow up seasons to Stargate Atlantis.
It’s a technicality because IDW is marketing it as such.
