Yes…but he did care somewhat about Losing Shy as his “FIRST” acknowledged friend. And the chemistry the fanon made for him and anyone close to him ends up neutralized in the canon it seems. Suppose that is a viable reason someone would hate this episode. I for one really liked the episode.

Personally, I think he was lying about never having a friend. I mean, this is Discord. He’s a liar. Check my previous comment about the “2,000 years” part.
 
My belief is his “friends” include Celestia, Luna, and Sombra.

Not really.
 
Personally, I think your new “good guy” attitude extends only to Fluttershy and you still consider the rest of the world your plaything.
 
For example, you turn half of Everfree into candy canes for a snack, Fluttershy tells you to change it back, you do it without question. If it was anypony else, it would take convincing, but not with your first real friends in 2,000 years.

actually i always did see discord as a powerfull being who isn’t evil, just inexperienced with living creatures, and sicne he is powerfull and hectic, nobody could get close to him long enough to leave a proper positive impact.

Well, it takes a bit of thought, but what the show is basically saying is that his time as ruler of Equestria was essentially better then Sombra’s rule of the Crytsal Empire. Celestia was willing to give him a second chance, despite living through the hell on Equestris he created, but gave no such instructions to Twilight regarding Sombra.
 
But other then that, no.
