It may not be possible, but as the student of the Student Six, you would have made a compelling protagonist!
 
They could have continued the series with them, giving the show a renewed sense of freshness, while also keeping with the story line, and check in on the original characters once in a while. That would have been nice, but I can see why Hasbro wanted to move on to other things!

It might have been nice to continue the series with her as the “mane” character, continuing with the story line, but give it new life with a new cast of characters, while also keeping an eye on the old ones.
But I also don’t want to see My Little Pony age in the same way that people say Spongebob has.
