Maybe I am.
Yep, imma ‘nother troll.
(You’d be surprised how often I look in my messages here, and see the same exact anonymous posters saying the same things, or complaining about the same things on numerous pics all in a perfect row.)
(It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to go “they’re the same anonymous poster that’s saying very similar if not identical things in other post threads,” lol)
Edited
Troll in the dungeon!
Maybe so they wouldn’t be too scary for li’l kids, and frankly kids/fans like villains whom can be both threatening/nasty, and comical, as well. Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy have shown comical aspects in their past episodes, yet still manage to be threatening.
Villains can be funny sometimes. Like say, the Joker is probably the best example.
They were evil, as I said that part was just a joke.
@Surprise
Perhaps… Though, I have seen some Discord fangirls whom think he’s adorable in his own way. Not to mention, “fan-service-y” fanart does exist for both characters.
I wouldn’t say everyone was against that IDW comic anyway. And kid Sombra was cute.
Then they shouldn’t have put those moments in the show, like the one in Frenemies or Chrysalis briefly considering the offer with a vulnerable look in her eyes. All that did is got people’s hopes up. They should have just had them 100% evil.
Edited
Wondr if that isn’t because to most fans Discord and Sombra don’t have any cuteness/attractiveness factors going for them.
Undertale had Asriel outright state that not everything can be resolved by being nice. It doesn’t seem like that game has a pacifistic mindset as toxically pervasive as Steven Universe seems to have (in my opinion; in that show, the writers actually do have something against irredeemable villains).
That game had an awareness that you can’t reason with everyone, ideal as it would be if it were the case in reality, and Deltarune, from the very same Toby Fox (which I’ve indeed played) had the King, who when you show him mercy (Ralsei healing him), he tries to kill you, because he’s a bastard, with no redeeming qualities implied, threatening to murder his own son for disagreeing.
Chrysalis, arguably the most vehement of those three, isn’t even in the same dimension as being possible to reason with. Starlight had already tried before, and failed, Twilight wanted to understand Cozy Glow and why, so the latter used that chance to give the power spiel, and Tirek wouldn’t listen to his brother. At that point, her only regret after the horrid things she’d done (threatening to mutilate a child, trying to commit murder multiple times, in cold-blood, one of which was that child, being eager to “have fun with our guests” [hint: “torture”]) was that she failed.
Some people might not like how cynical it is, but for those three, that was the only realistic outcome for the kinds of characters they are (sociopathic megalomaniacs, who is narcissistic in the case of Chrysalis). Some people will just never change, and to me personally, it’s refreshing to see a kid’s show reflect that.
…that’s just my opinion, I know yours is different.
It’s not Steven Universe but it can be argued that Friendship is Magic is thematically on the ideal side of things and so the fan edited newspaper is the more appropriate ending for the setting.
I’ve seen some of SU, and while an ok show, I’m not a huge fan. Also, I never played Undertale, but I’ve heard of it’s befriending enemies gimmick.
This is not Stephen Universe, or Undertale, we’re talking about though, and not everything has to emulate them.
Edited
I’m curious, have you see Steven Universe and do you have a problem with it? What about Undertale?
I disagree, but to each their own.
Some villains I just can’t see being reformed, or need to be. As I said, it’s unrealistic to reform every bad guy.
Heck, in G1 MLP, some villains actually got killed off. So they were much more brutal with villains.
Edited
It didn’t seem to be hinting at anything to me, and considering what happens in the end, that kinda shows it wasn’t any kind of intentional hint, and I still think it was just a joke fans read too deeply into.
It means that the potential is there and hints at an eventual change of heart. It’s like how Discord had a concerned look on his face when Shining Armor was drained of his magic back in the season 4 finale, implying that his betrayal isn’t gong to stick.
So some fans were annoyed that this went nowhere.
Edited
That still doesn’t mean the trio wanted to reform. In fact, I think that moment was just a joke, or the show poking fun at it’s own moral lessons, especially the way the villains react, and shrug it off.
I doubt the Joker ever had a moment where he said that helping others made him feel good…
