Not really, it’s more that the frontal lobe is where restraint and reason reside, so the damage made him more impulsive and less reasonable.
From what I’ve read, he recovered somewhat over the years, most likely due to what was left of his left frontal lobe rerouting to compensate.
That said, I’m no neurologist and am going on memory, so don’t take my word for it.
I mean the fact that one half of his brain was still fully intact meant it likely took over a bit of the leg work of the other side.
I don’t know the specifics so it’s w/e, just a thought.
Not really, since the damage was to Gage’s frontal lobe, not his corpus callosum.

in fact, there was a fairly famous case where a miner got a metal pole shot through his skull by an explosion, totally ruined one part of his brain but the dude kept living for a few years
