Well, both second and third films are technically sequels to the first film. And there’s truly a debate wether the first film was set in the future or not. But we possibly know that SpongeBob having 374 consecutive employee of the month awards is possibly a continuity error.
Actually the second and third SpongeBob movies technically are prequels, as the first movie is chronologically the end of the series (despite the fact it still is in production).

Well, it was now actually another sequel to the 2004 SpongeBob movie.

It already was released on Netflix in many countries, but at United States it’ll premiere at CBS All Access in early 2021.

Well, according to producer, Steve Davis, there will be a sequel to the 2017 G4 movie.
Well it’s called “Sponge on the Run.” You could also called it “The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie 3.” This movie was postponed during the COVID-19 Pandemic. I hope this movie would be released in select theaters and in home on demand next year in early 2021. But this movie still counts as a 2020 movie.

The CGI movie is a prequel to a 2D series. That’s what Hasbro wants to do, go figure!

We have known since 2017 because of the leaks that G5 will be introduced through a movie.
I’d want want it to be a stand alone to the first movie and takes place between the final episodes of the G4 series, plus I looked up on Wikipedia, it doesn’t say Untitled My Little Pony reboot, or on IMDB.
I want it to have the G4 Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity and Spike in CGI.
