ohh! i like that a lot!
Cool. I am not from the US so I don’t know this, thanks
Matter of fact, permanent residents who don’t have citizenship in the US can actually join the US military, they’re just prohibited from becoming commissioned officers. Military service is one way to gain citizenship, even.
@PaperBagPony
I figured he was old enough during the rest of the series that he has, physically at least, basically an adult already, and wouldn’t have visibly aged much between then and this episode.
He realized Griffonstone was a lost cause (or it would need more than he alone could do), so after graduating he emigrated (Twilight probably expedited that process). A while later he joined the military. Over the years, he rose through the ranks and when he was offered a position as a royal guard, he took it without hesitation. Because without Twilight and her school, he would still be living in a ditch in Griffonstone, so now he “pays back” the gratitude.
Well, I think I couldn’t be a US Marine if I’m italian or english, no? Sure, we should know Equestrian Laws, maybe a Princess could give titles if someone was trusted or did something for the reign.
Gallus and the other students saved Equestria sometimes, also they had a strained glass in the castle, so… why not? Sure he (and the students) did more for the ponies than other.

@eden89
Question: Then is Gallus now a citizen of Equestria?
My headcanon too <3
Yep, but they are more visibile, Gallus with an armor could remain young. It wasn’t a big idea, of course.
they did with
almostevery charactermaybe for a single scene with an armor, they think wasn’t important to make a new model.
Indeed… We need a little backstory for this (or a fanfic), because the concept is awesome
Eyup! :)
