I admit I have a soft spot for Ice Cap, and such.
All my favourite pieces too…
Yeah, I loved the remixed music for those stages.
Apparently, it’s only a few songs of Sonic 3 like the Ice Cap Zone, and Launch Base Zone, the end credits, mini-boss, and maybe a few others.
Plus Hyrocity and Lava Reef appear to be safe too, as Tee Lopes was allowed to remix them for Sonic Mania.
Shame they banned it, as I liked that Simpsons episode. (Luckily I have it on DVD.)
To be honest, I didn’t even notice the musical similarities ’till Youtubers pointed them out.
Brad Buxor, a musician, and MJ musical collaborator was credited though.
Should also point out, the STH3 “Angel Island” theme was composed by Jun Senoue, which is why that one is safe to appear in the SSB series.
Edited
The music still did sound like MJ did it.
This is totally different topic so better make it quick he’s also not credited in The Simpsons episode (it’s not even him singing) but we all know what to that episode
Yeah, but he wasn’t credited for STH3.
“Sonic & Knuckles” was rerelesed on some ATGames devices, so apparently that game is safe.
There was also MJ’s questionable reputation
Yeah, shame… At this point, I’d even accept the official PC port with a few of the music tracks changed. (Due to said legal issue.)
In fact, some of those “changed” songs were from the original BETA.
Edited
But as for compilations, it may be a while before it has another appearance.
Wiley Wars is great, I must admit. There’s other good games too. Even the Mickey Mouse games are good.
Shame, I sometimes wonder if fans shot themselves in the foot by discovering/exposing MJ’s involvement in StH3, which lead to that.
Though, apparently, “Sonic 3 & Knuckles” is available officially on STEAM.
Probably a good trade off for finally having a proper US release of Mega Man: The Wily Wars, which never came to America in the 90s.
Sonic 3 and S&K are trapped in some weird copyright lock (I think due to Michael Jackson’s music in the final version), so I don’t think we’ll be seeing them again for a long time. This is probably also why Christian Whitehead’s pitch for a mobile S3&K was rejected.
I liked Super Mario Brothers. lol
For that matter, I liked the corny “Street Fighter” movie too.
In fairness, I hear “Rampage” wasn’t bad.
Edited
This was the only the second video game adaptation that was any good. First there was Detective Pikachu. Before that Hollywood consistently released garbage like Super Mario Brothers.
I’ve enjoyed it. Stores have it for $60. now, which is fair for 42 games, especially given how high some of these Sega sell for in some stores, or Ebay. Has alot of great Sega games, (including third party & 2 Disney licensed games) and interestingly if you change the language to Japanese, or a European language, you get to play the region versions for those games too.
This even includes “Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine” becoming “Puyo Puyo” when set to Japanese. (So that game’s include, as well. So it’s more like 43 games, as it’s slightly different.)
The controllers are perfectly authentic too, and the mini console detail is surprisingly well done. The headphone volume slider, and cartridge slot really move too, despite not being functional. (Wish they included one of those collectable fake cartridges you can actually place in it. In Japan, Sega actually has vending machines for those.)
The unreleased Sega Tetris game included isn’t quite as good as the Nintendo Tetris games, as it kinda speeds up too fast, (doesn’t even have classical Russian music) but I still enjoyed it, and I suppose it’s a more unique take on the game. (Be sure to go to options to custom it’s controls though.)
The other unreleased game Darius is pretty good too.
One game I wish they included was “Ristar,” and mabey Sonic 3&K, but I already have those in other Sega compilation games, so I can’t complain.
Edited
I’ve been debating whether or not to get that. Is it worth it?
Some of those could work too, and it’d be nice for Sega to remind everybody they do more then Sonic & Atlus games.
I actually bought a Sega Genesis Mini, and Sega has quite the legacy.
I’d be down for that!
But what about their other properties: Golden Axe, NiGHTS, Super Monkey Ball, Yakuza?
Yeah, I heard that, glad it’s getting one.
Maybe with luck, we’ll get a “Streets of Rage” movie too.
The sequel is confirmed by both Paramount and SEGA.
@Aharon L’anglais
Apparently, many loved the Sonic movie, and it was a box office success. (Highest grossing video game movie, even beating “Detective Pikachu”) I’ll even say it was pretty good.
The human characters didn’t steal too much focus from Sonic, thank God. (A problem many “non-human main character/s” movie adaptations suffer from) Sonic’s voice & personality were great, the visual effects were good, good action & comedy. There’s plenty of subtle easter eggs & nods to the franchise throughout, (including a Sonic cartoon voice actor making a cameo) without coming off as “pandering to nostalgia” too much. There’s enough original elements mixed with game lore, (the owl for example is based on the tribal statues you see in Labyrinth Zone) to keep it both original, and accurate.
The movie really is both an entertaining movie on it’s own, as well as being a love-letter to the franchise.
Also, Jim Carrey is a surprisingly convincing Dr. Robotnik. ||Even though he doesn’t get his iconic big mustache look until the end of the movie. ||
This one was.
Way past cool huh?
I love your avatar.
