Ā Even in near tragedy we can find the strength to triumph. Welcome to 2020.
Ā
Vector is based on this heartbreaking status that EStories (Think Pink), the amazing stallion/artist behind the comic series āSeeds of Darknessā, posted a few days ago.
Ā
The awesome MLP comment story writer JibberJams, who writes little MLP fanfic snippets on many art pieces around DA, suggested in a comment on my profile that we should do something like a consolation gift for them.
Ā
I believe they deserved it as well. And so this vector came about. Itās a rather sad start to this new year, but I believe that 2020 will be a great year, both for Think Pink and Neigh Sayer as well as for the rest of us.
Ā JibberJams pieced together a very fitting story for this picture - especially since he has not even seen the picture yet. Ā
This is the account he wrote:
Ā
Ā It was a stormy day at the studio. Not an uncommon occurrence, surely; it just meant all ponies working there had to stay indoors.
Ā However, for one pair of ponies, the dreary downpour set a dour mood. It was the aftermath of one of the worst things they ever experiencedā¦
Ā A door slowly opened. āThink Pinkā¦?ā a visiting pony said in an extraordinarily soothing voice. It was Neigh Sayer. āLook, I know what almost happened was rough, butā¦ itās over now. Cāmon. At least TRY to eat somethingā¦ā Neigh Sayer put a plate on a small table near the large window, where a distraught Think Pink hung his head, unable to wrap his mind around what transpired.
Ā Think Pink glanced at Neigh Sayer and the sandwich she made for him. However, he turned away again and said, āā¦Not hungryā¦ Iā¦ I just canātā¦ā
Ā The only noise for a while was a soft sigh from Neigh Sayer. She walked up a little. āPinkā¦ Pleaseā¦ I know what almost happened was terrible. Butā¦ what good does it do to be stuck on it? Itās over, Think Pink.ā
Ā āHā¦ How can you be so sure???ā Think Pink swiftly answered. āI just donāt understandā¦ Somepony taking their own life? I meanā¦ Where do you have to be in life to even THINK about doing such a thingā¦? Itā¦ It doesnāt make sense!ā
Ā āI KNOW it doesnāt make sense!ā said Neigh Sayer, raising her voice. āAll we can do, though, is keep a closer eye on it, and try to be there for the victim! We can remind you-know-who that they have a lot to live for!ā
Ā Alas, Think Pinkās heart and mind were stuck were he sat, unable to purge the sordid memory from his mind. āā¦Neigh Sayerā¦ Believe me, Iām TRYING to get over it. Iā¦ I wish that I really could just wish away my feelings. But I canāt. This should NOT have happened! Itās NOT FAIR!!!ā He started hanging his head again, holding back a sob.
Ā Suddenly, Neigh Sayer threw herself at Think Pink. āHEY!!! Listen to me! Do you think Iām taking this any b-better than youā¦?!ā Tears began to swell, and she fought to avoid shedding them. āIā¦ I hate this, too. I do. Just thinking about what almost happenedā¦ what WOULDāVE happened if we hadnāt stepped inā¦ Itās really bringing me down, too. Iāmā¦ Iām just saying that, if we want to stop this from happening againā¦ weā¦ we need to show that we care.ā
Ā As Think Pink made eye contact with Neigh Sayer, he began to speak. His first word sounded like a shudder. āB-Butā¦ What ifā¦ā he said, shaking. āWhat if it DOES happenā¦? W-What if weā¦ canāt stop it next timeā¦? W-What then???ā
Ā Silence filled the room, only broken by the hard pattering of rain against the glass. The two ponies were quiet, with Neigh Sayer calmly walking to Think Pink, well within hugging range.
Ā A soft sob was how Think Pink began talking again. His voice cracking, he said, āIāmā¦ Iām scared, Neigh Sayer!ā
Ā Shutting his moist eyes, Think Pink felt Neigh Sayerās embrace. The normally-grouchy mare couldnāt hold it in anymore, saying, āI-I knowā¦! sniff ME TOO-OO-OO!ā
Ā It was a poignant moment for the couple as they poured each otherās hearts out. Think Pink and Neigh Sayer gave each other a much-needed, loving squeeze. They made sure to let it all out. A passing janitor walked by, peering through the barely-opened door. When he saw the two consoling each otherā¦ he wished that he could join in, too.
Ā Eventually, the two calmed down. They decided to stretch the moment a few minutes more, to remind each other that the one would always be there for the other, and vice versa. Even with the weight of the shocking event haunting them, Think Pink and Neigh Sayer still held on to their warmest comforts:
Ā Each other.
Ā
Ā
Continue to keep this astounding couple in your prayers, they really need a pick-me-up following what could have been a terrible, tragic ending not only to 2019, but the whole 2010s decade.
Ā
Think Pink and Neigh Sayer, at EStories, this is my consolation gift to you, with the assistance of my friend JibberJams.
Ā
And JibberJams, thank you for this touching story and for suggesting the idea of a consolation piece in the first place. You really hit it home. In the long run, our family, our friends, our faith, and our love for each otherā¦these are the things that matter most. More than anything else we do. We must always remember to cherish these things and be an encouragement to everyone we come across. Thank you for this great reminder.
