I prefer it when people draw the ponies how they’d actually look like this. You always see art draw them looking clean and nourished. No, they’d absolutely be tortured little ponies. One of the defining points of the story is the horrors of war and to me the contrast is supposed to make us see how ponies aren’t supposed to suffer like this (the same way humans aren’t supposed to).
