No he’s not.
it’s worth getting to know someone your family thinks is good for you, but it sounds like they were immediately certain that it would work. it’s foolish to ship strangers together, without allowing for the possibility that it does not work between them. if a society falls apart when the first attempt at a relationship fails, then that society needs to change their traditions: either to be more careful about shipping people, or to be more forgiving of shippings that don’t work out.
it’s like if your family bet everything on snake eyes, made you roll the dice, and then acted like it’s your fault they didn’t win. not the best strategy in the world…
As much as I’d like to have a girl to be with, I don’t want to be engaged to someone I don’t know. That’s just a disaster waiting to happen.
yeah, arranged marriages are fine. the problem is forced marriages. I’d be grateful if my family found a nice girl for me to be with. I’d be very ungrateful if she turns out to be not nice at all, and my family then tries to blackmail and guilt me into marrying her, despite knowing that it’s a bad idea. people who care about the institution of marriage more than the people getting married are just messed up in the head.

I’m not sure you can really call it that. I still had a choice, I just didn’t know I was gonna get engaged so fast.
Oof…And this was arranged marriage? Those are the worst!
It took a lot of nerves, heartache, guilt, arguments and tears to finally tell my family that I didn’t really want to marry the girl they had set up for me to meet back in Macedonia. I had thought that saying ‘yes’ to her meant entering into a relationship with her going steady and getting to know her more, etc…but apparently everyone in my family took it as me wanting to marry her and I was instantly engaged to her.
It wasn’t what I wanted but everyone was already celebrating and feeling happy for me and…I just knew I was in a really shitty situation… I spent the next few weeks secretly crying to myself and figuring out how I was going to deal with the fallout when the inevitable were to happen. I wanted to make sure I was back in the US first, though.
As much as I already knew things were gonna get ugly, it still managed to be even worse than I thought: my family kept telling me how I had screwed over the poor girl for the rest of her life (apparently in my native culture, if a girl is rejected in an engagement, she’s considered “damaged goods”).
Worst time in my life… I was seriously contemplating suicide…

@MethidMan
How’d you get out of it?
Just so long as her Sister doesn’t want to…watch during the honeymoon. To be sure he’s doing it right.
Not unless one of them is part fish.

My boy caught him some apple-scented bait!
She did get the wrong idea.
He didn’t, she did.
What about Kirin’s? Chances are they might make that together.
Very dangerous sister-in-law.
Now the number one thing you to worried about, the budget for all of that.
