“How Twilight and Shining Armor’s parents met. (In my head canon at least)
 
I’ve always envisioned Twilight to be more like her father Night Light and Shining to be more like his mother Velvet. I first saw this in one of my favorite MLP episodes “Once Upon a Zeppelin” where Velvet was a daredevil riding Neigh-agra Falls while Night Light preferred a quiet game of Bingo. And knowing this, how humorous would it be if they first met at the Gala where Velvet came on a little strong with her friendship-making?
 
Parties and celebrations were never a thing Night Light really enjoyed. Even when Princess Celestia herself invited him and the rest of his class to attend, he still managed to sneak off into the garden to catch a glimpse of Princess Luna’s beautiful night. But Celestia being the ever relationship-pusher sent her most extroverted student, Velvet, out to chat with the stallion. After all, everypony needs a friend; even the most anti-social. So Velvet did what she was known for in her time and decided to play a little prank on poor ol’ Night Light. While he was busy gazing up at the moon, she snuck around him, grabbed the telescope in her hoof, and quickly pulled it down to give him a good old fashioned jump scare! And sweet Celestia, it worked…
 
Ever since then, though, Velvet was determined to make Night Light her friend as he was the most mysterious, soft-spoken stallion in the School for Gifted Unicorns. Pranks turned into funny jokes, jokes turned into light conversation, and light conversation turned into deep, emotional talks on beautiful moonlit nights. Night Light found he could open up around Velvet as he showed her the extravagance of life and how fun it could all be while he showed her how to take life slowly and enjoy the little things.
 
These two have always been so adorable and I really enjoyed drawing them! Hope ya like it! “
