That’s true. I’ve actually done that on occasion. I’ll use asterisks in place of a name until I think of a good name and/or species. In my story, “There’s No Way”, most of the one-off characters were done exactly like that.

I mean, you can’t really write a character you don’t know. It’s not just a matter of writing “Z was walking down the street one day…” and then filling in some random OC’s name afterwards.

Fair enough and true. I wish I could do art but, I have to settle for writing stories. Fortunately, I seem to have a talent for that, although I can only write about my OCs unless I know someone else’s character well enough that I know them almost as well as my own.

I like the “wow, two cakes!” was of thinking about it. I’m not “competing” with anyone. We’re all just making things for everyone to enjoy. :)

Well, some artists get a little antsy when “competition” is brought up. However, I will say that a few of the ones I read regularly include, “Carry On”, “TwoKinds”, “Forest Hill”, “Evon”, and “Cats and Cameras”. Those are just a few of the ones I read (and re-read) with regularity. I believe that I keep up with around 20 different comics including yours.

I’d love for you to share what other comics you are into! Why wouldn’t I appreciate that? :P

You’re welcome. I’m more likely to do that with comics that make references to previous pages like this one does. It helps me keep the story line fresh in my memory (and I’ve got a bad memory LOL).

Like I said, if I like a comic, I’ll re-read it. If the comic is being actively updated, I’ll do it more often because I like keeping up to date with what’s going on. I’ve got three or four active comics that I re-read once or twice a year. I’d say which ones but I don’t know of Stellarator would appreciate it.

If I knew people were going to be going back and re-reading this years later, I would have worked harder to do a better job XD

Yeah. Like I said some time back, if I like a comic, I’ll re-read it as many times as I can. I’ll even make comments because, normally, I’ll see something I missed when I read it earlier just like what Cold Front thought on this page. I had missed it completely and only saw it yesterday.

Whoa! I had a hard time trying to figure out what Cold Front was thinking in the 16th panel but, after figuring out a couple of the words, I got it! (And he’s absolutely right! Whew! I may need to take a cold shower. LOL)

I guess in part it’s kind of like one of those optical illusions, like the one that is either a vase or faces. A person is inclined to process it one way, and it’s really hard to get your brain into the state to see it the other way, whichever way that is.
 
That is one problem with my style of semi-cartoonish characters in a semi-photorealistic rendering style; I am always flirting with the uncanny valley, which is in different places for different people.

Why do 3D anthros always look bad even when they’re done well? I understand not everyone sees them the way that I do, but there’s a certain percentage of the population who’s brains see 3d anthros regardless of quality and get something between an uncanny valley effect and a “oh God I want to vomit.” I’m not complaining, I’m not complaining at all. I’m lamenting, because every now and then I check out the 3d stuff and sometimes I enjoy it enough to look past the 3d heebie jeebies- like this. I actually like it, even though I get heebie jeebies. I’m just lamenting the fact that I can’t enjoy it even more here, especially since this is actually much better done than so much on this site. (No offense to others.)
