Your logic is incredibly twisted and you’re very poorly educated with Hasbro and this industry.
 
Friendship is Magic is a show that exists to sell toys. The entire show is a marketing stunt, and considering it’s been wildly successful and drawn a global population of adults to buying toys for little girls, that implies Hasbro is an absolute savant in marketing.
 
Throwing the team curveballs is a defining feature of a toyline show, because little girls get tired of toys faster than they do of their hairstyles. Can you explain how exactly would massive problems in a show be everyone’s fault except for the people actually working on the show..?
 
The problem lied entirely with the FiM writing team, who without Faust & Renzetti (neither of whom were involved in Cadance being an alicorn let alone Twilight) were at the time mostly composed of greenhorns, novices, and interns. Though many of them have recognized their shortcomings and corrected them over the last two years, QED the entire reason Twilight’s princess-hood was so crappy was because the team could not run with the curveball.
 
But let’s be fair: that’s not really their fault, because again, the team was composed mostly of noobs. Time for a comparison.
 
Are you familiar with Transformers? Hasbro’s largest toy line and far and away their most important franchise? Hasbro throws the Transformers show team(s) curveballs on an episodic basis due to the supreme effort put into the toy line, and the team integrates them into the story seamlessly because the Transformers team is composed of old veterans who know quite well what they’re doing and are very familiar with working side-by-side with a constantly updating toy line (many of them today are the same people who’ve been with Transformers since the 80’s.)
 
But My Little Pony never enjoyed that prestige until the last decade, so it did not receive special attention from Hasbro, and so FiM did not have a team with 30+ years of experience. If they had been more experienced with making toy shows, they would have had the savvy and foresight to know that Twilight – main character and most popular character with the core demographic – would inevitably have become a Princess sooner or later for the sake of the toy line and been ready for it at any point, and we would have had a good season 3.
 
But they weren’t so they weren’t so we didn’t.

Do you seriously think they intentionally wrote in Twilicorn as a plot element? Do you not see how obviously forced in it was?
 
Take a step back to the S2 finale.  
What’s there in common with S3 finale?
 
Alicorn Princess, that’s what.
 
Now look at Hasbro’s marketing. It’s practically based around the princess model, because ‘every little girl wants to be a princess’.
 
I believe we still have a good show. Hasbro may be shitty at marketing, but DHX knows how to run with the curveball, and I respect that.
 
tl:dr don’t blame DHX for the shitty things happening, blame Hasbro Marketing.
