I have study much about free of charge blogging sites, but I have no clear idea concerning that, can any one let know me which one is finest in favor of free blogging?
@The Smiling Pony
No, it is censorship.
Ban for spamming pictures of any content. That is right. It’s protection against spammers.
But! When moderator write:
“Letting you guys know before you get banned for no reason.
No M.A. Larson till other moderators put the rogue moderator down.”
This is a real censorship!
Not a word about spam. But for pictures quite specific content(thanks m.a. larson) you can get banned. This is censorship!
Ban spammers personally - this is correct.
Threaten ban for “thanks m.a. larson” is not correct. And even emotionally.
@greaterlimits
It would be one guy posting 4, then 5 other people posting 2-3 at the same time, half of those people on dynamic IPs or proxies that make messaging impossible.
“You may as well have deleted them, they’re buried so deep in the comments no one will be able to find em, which was the point, I guess.”
No, that wasn’t the point. I don’t care that they exist and I didn’t plan on making them hard to find. I guess I can fix that now and dump them in the upload description.
@Ferrotter
They don’t tax the system; spamming them as they were keeps the default page size of 15 full of only those gifs. That is spam that annoys users, the large majority of which are unregistered; the number of complaints I receive about this dwarfs the comments in both these “TSP is eeevilll” posts. They are low effort, low quality trolling images (specifically to ridicule those that dislike Alicorn Twilight), which is against the rules.
I could have just deleted everything and banned infractors, but I took the time (and non-trivial effort) to save them all in one convenient place for people to still have access to them and a place to post them.
@The Smiling Pony
Then privately shut down the individual doing it in bulk. Send that individual a polite message to not do it in bulk, with an explanation that it is because of server load. And when the individual acknowledges that they will comply, un-ban them. Then discuss rules changes that will apply to anyone else with all the mods, and publish those changes that are agreed to. Only then, apply those rules to other site users.
You yourself stated that your reason was that the images were “bullshit,” “(im)proper,” “waste(s) (of) upload space,” and “shit” in a public forum. Those are your words, not someone else’s. You’re entitled to your opinions. However, even aside from “Rules of the Booru” #0, which calling others’ work names violates, you now contradict yourself and say the actual reason for your actions was server load. Nowhere in your edict, except questionably in calling them “spam” (which could be just as easily interpreted as yet another version of “I don’t personally like them,” rather than “way too much at once”), did you say the reason was “uploading these in bulk was overtaxing the system.”
Nobody begrudges necessary actions to keep the system running. The action itself was justifiable. What caused the vitriol against it was that it was done in a grossly unprofessional way. The nasty comments in the uploader description were unnecessary, impolite, and a violation of your own site rules. I just looked at the site rules page again, and still nowhere do I see rules that images have to take X amount of effort to make to be worthy of upload, or that an individual can only upload Y amount of data per Z amount of time (that damn well should be a written site rule if we need it to be a site rule to keep the servers running). Handle things professionally and politely, and people won’t get mad. And when you do slip up, a track record of polite, carefully deliberated, consensus decisions will insulate against accusations of dictatorship. (Plus, prank the Cakes and make them spill tea on their tablecloth.)
@Enkidu
Well, I hope you sit down and discuss this, as there is a lot people who like this. Atleast for the sake to revise the rules as right now, THIS is where people can read about the “NO M.A. LARSON” ban.
People will sooner or later rediscover these pictures somewhere else and upload them here without knowning they are breaking rules.
@Background Pony
He’s not saying he’s sole dictator, the sites ownership is shared between TSP, Clover, Carcer & Launchy and they often discuss the big issues about the site.
As for saying he’s rogue, TSP is one of the hardest working members of the site, at least that much should be acknowledged. He does only what he thinks is best for the site.
Honestly, while I can see why people are upset about censorship, I can also see TSP’s side. All of these can really bog things down when they’re taking up the entire thumbnail page at once. So while I may not agree with the way TSP presented the case for this, I can understand why he’d want to get people to reign it in on uploading these.
@w_msg
No, I think it’s exactly the point. Derpibooru has a poor record of completely documenting MLP-related art, largely because of this kind of unsupervised one-rogue-mod censorship. Trying to present a unified face only makes sense if the decision the mods get behind is a unified decision. Otherwise the first mod to install such a ban, be it on M.A.Larson or fluffy ponies, or the next big thing, should be immediately overruled by another mod, and the issue be tabled until all the mods can get together and review an opinion survey of the site’s users. In the case of an actual low-grade DoS attack, or even an upload rate that accidentally accomllisbes the same thing, the mods would all agree to keep the ban; there would be no need to
@Ferrotter
Because some of them hidden for me by tags.
The exact number of such images is not important. 1800 is a lot. 8000 is terribly much! But the meaning of what I have said before remains the same.
You people don’t seem to realize that servers don’t run on infinite magic.
Gifs are very large compared to other images, and these are being uploaded in bulk. Fluffly pony has been around since before Ponibooru went down, so those images had been uploaded over a long period of time. Most of them are shitty quality .jpgs anyway. The space wasting isn’t that bad. And IIRC they tried an outright ban on that and it wasn’t pretty.
Wow! That’s a kind of ideological censorship.
You know, when a lot of pictures with a alicorn twilight(“why does everyone hate my wings?”;“Why don’t you give me a chance?”;etc.) allowed, but a series of innocuous and really funny images “thanks m.a. larson” fall under censorship. Not to mention the fact that site has 1804 of pictures with a fluffy pony. This upsets me.:\
@The Smiling Pony
Why not just wipe out the ones posted all together instead of every single one, when I made one nobody had posted one in many hours, and it got a lot more upvotes than downvotes.
I made mine as a joke, I love Alicorn Twilight, I feel kinda miffed to get lumped in with spammers.
Uploader description sounds like a cool idea.
because i do.
If so, then I do not see any problem.
Like I’ve said repeatedly, post these if you feel like it, but do not fill a page with them in under in a minute.

Hes saying why not ban the ones posting them all at once instead of taking it out on everyone involved.

You want to spam 20 of these shitty, low effort, low quality images at a time, do it as comments.
You want to upload one or two every once in a while, go ahead.
You upload 20 at a time as separate images, go fuck yourself with a rake.
*all of these gifs

I know. There are over 8000 fluffy pony images in existence. How can this be THE MLP:FiM archive with a pitiful 1804 of them?
