@Tiennos
Yeah, though recently, most cartoons seem to either focus on meta self-aware sitcom-ish humor lately, or continuity-driven anime-esque stories. Or in some cases mixing both. So it’s kinda nice to have a break from that.
Cartoons being silly gag-fests is more the norm than the exception. It’s been like that for close to a century by now.
Seriously, look at what Tex Avery was making in the 1940s; it’s nothing but wild gags, breaking the 4th wall and pop culture references. Basically the same thing as TTG (only with more talent).
Yeah i looked up for him, It was that western guy from
Looney Tunes
I just didn’t remember his name, or maybe he came with a different name here where i’m from, who knows
@Thunder_Arch
I used to watch alot of cartoons full of sight gags as a kid, so it doesn’t really bother me. In fact, I kinda miss those, as most cartoons now try to either be like anime, or a self-aware sitcom, or both mixed. Something more “Classic Looney Tunes-ish” or “Classic Nicktoon-ish” is kinda welcome.
You never heard of Yosemite (pronounced “Yoh-Sem-ety”) Sam? You must have had a deprived childhood. j/k
@Beau Skunky
PL is a cartoon entirely based on said gags
while pinkie breaking the 4th Wall and doing strange stuff became more of a “meme” and kept being used
While there were some episodes with cartoonish gags involving other characters, we are talking on a whole show revolvong around these gags.
I’ve seen the first episodes and they are full of them.
P.s. i said teen titans because it’s something people can easly relate to, in fact i added “and similar”
For example i’ve never heard of that Yosemite
@northern haste
Yeah, honestly bronies just use TTG & “CalArts” as a means to demonize PL, even before it came out. (I’ve seen TTG, PL is NOT TTG.)
Just like they used to call Equestria Girls “Monster High,” and such before it came out. Nowadays, you’d get chewed out by EqG fans if you called it that.
I kinda hope some day PL gets “vindicated by history,” and gets fans too. I’ve seen worse honestly, it’s not perfect, but it’s not bad either, and the Mane characters remind me of their FIM counterparts still. So it’s nice to see them one last time before G5 gets rid of them.
(When G5 comes, I wonder if some fans will start begging for more PL.)
@Takugenji
Yeah, in fact season 1 (which bronies laud as the best season) was arguably even more cartoonier.
@Beau Skunky
the current logic testing to be if it’s an anyway happened in teen Titans go it was invented by that show and any show does it use trying to copy it.and as mentioned before the problems with teen Titans go is more than just the humour
@Beau Skunky
Thank you! Pinkie Pie and even the other cast have done things that shouldn’t be possible. Like Rarity turning into a ball and bouncing off the frame when there was nothing above her. It just feels like some people don’t give the new show enough of a try and just want to complain about it.
Wish some people will actually realize that soonish.
@Thunder_Arch
Dude, cartoons have done that, and crazier long befoooore TTG. Do you think TTG is the only cartoon with visual exaggerated gags?
Heck, Yosemite Sam’s been sent to Hell before. That’s way more edgier then a few MLP cartoony visual gags.
@Takugenji
And inflated her head, and stretched her neck 10 feet, produced disguises out of nowhere, roll around like a ball, amongst other things. MLP:FIM has had alot of Looney Tunes-esc gags.
I’m surprised fans act like it’s a new/strange thing.

Pinkie literally broke in the main show too.
I mean, Pinkie literally explodes and comes back to life, Twilight breaks like a vase
left them back to being stunning.
