Honestly, and this is just my opinion, being “intolerant of intolerance” is just a way to hypocritically get rid of your opponents. Authoritarians love using it about as much as they love lying and gas lighting.
@Ladimer
What does “intolerance of intolerance” mean? If it means imprisoning people for having “intolerant” opinions, then that is obscenely unacceptable. If it means pushing back with your own free speech and freedom of association without infringing on their right to do the same, then that has always been eminently acceptable.
@Brass Melody
Illegal activities are illegal, and abstract ideas are just abstract ideas. The law is simple and clear.
Oh ho ho ho ho, my little snowflake…
Well, it’s possible that you’re… Although, no, it isn’t that way.
@Brass Melody
Popper’s is such a ridiculous argument. He literally advocates intolerance, so should not be tolerated by his own argument.
I don’t know how he behaves in his other words spoken publicly, but specifically here he speaks correctly.
Excessive tolerance is harmful. People gathering together in generalized groups for the sake of “protecting” each other, achieve their goal and get lost. They don’t know what to do, no where to go with this crowd, and then suddenly someone shouts - let’s continue to argue with everyone! Or something like that. In general, they start to do rather stupid things, like searching for long-dead conspiracies, insulting everyone they don’t like, or even, strangely enough, they begin to trust what is written in Atlantis these days!
Yes, the latter is simply idiocy, and not a consequence of excessive tolerance. There are plenty of fools who trust newspapers and do not check the information themselves…
Nevertheless, as others have said here before, tolerance is needed. Regarding real issues. In general, re-read the comments of Naughtypony2010, I’m not going to get into politics. Fortunately, I do not live in the USA right now, and I am very happy about it. “USA right now” is such a mess. Mainly because of its population and politics, which… I don’t go into politics, no. (=

@Armagedonus
Lets be honest, whatever political direction it is, when the post promotes harmful actions and intolerance, its nothing that belongs here. Nor anywhere on other platforms and social media for that matter.
the political direction itself shouldn’t really matter, just what the kind of message of the image is.
@Naughtypony2010
Wouldn’t that meant censoring american left with their hatred of whites with its “white privilige” and other racial attacks? (not to mention anti-Israeli antisemitism)
@Armagedonus
A limit of tolerance, set right where obvious promotion and obvious propaganda of intolerant and harmful political directions start.
Completely objective limit. How to vote on that fair for the majority, is a different thing.
@Brass Melody
radicals are everywhere.
sitting around and doing nothing aka “Tolerating” leads to giving them so much space, they indeed may make use of radical, harmful actions.
@Beau Skunky
“No genuine Nazi would sing Springtime for Hitler.”
But a genuine Nazi would carry around a sign or put up a propaganda poster with a pony from a children’s cartoon they found while browsing the most popular website for the internet fandom with the most pornography?
I made a whole bunch of /mlpol/ memes a few years back, and I’m a libertarian, about as far as you can get from a national socialist state. I just think a picture of Hitler petting a pony instead of Blondi is goofy, like the goofy Satan character off Cow & Chicken.

Completely objective limit. How to vote on that fair for the majority, is a different thing.
So what do you propose?
radicals are everywhere.
sitting around and doing nothing aka “Tolerating” leads to giving them so much space, they indeed may make use of radical, harmful actions.
Because why be better than the people who hate you am I right?
Tolerating intolerance leads to the destruction of tolerance. This is basic philosophy.
Or here’s a kooky concept, maybe it’s telling you to be the better person and be more tolerant than the intolerant.
Was that me? If so, does anyone even remember what I said?
If it’s my comment, then the answer is, no.
If not, disregard.
Well, only if it actually works.
Popper is an idiot who point-blank advocates intolerance, so shouldn’t be tolerated by his own argument.

Ouch, imagine being you. Life must be tough. :3
