Last I checked it was also Lauren Faust’s. She said something to the effect that she’d love it if Firefly were Dashie’s mom… I think.

And that’s how Rainbow Dash was made!

…And that’s how Rainbow Dash was made.

In my headcanon they are Dashie’s parents. I already made a background story for them some weeks ago for my main fanfic. Firefly is a professional stunt flyer and Blue Thunder (the name I made for Rainbow’s dad) is a member of Firefly’s personal “life guard” (medical pegasi who take care of stunt flyer). Moreover both of them are still alive and they’re still living in Cloudsdale.
 
They first met when Firefly had an accident (a broken wing) and they fell in love some time later. They traveled through Equestria (including big cities like Canterlot where Celestia herself saw the stunt show) because of Firefly’s stunt shows and some years later they married and Dashie was born.
 
Firefly’s personality is similar to Rainbow Dash’s personality while Blue Thunder has a more calm, caring and almost shy (not Fluttershy shy) personality. Before you start complaining because I think her father is a little bit shy, I gave him that personality because opposites attracts. Moreover it would make an awesome fanfic^^ A strong and confident mare and a kind stallion who is a little bit shy.
