Isn’t the pic in that magazine a fanart? I’ve seen it before but don’t remember where it came from. Kinda looks like Sibsy’s style though.
 
Also, why does the LPS article tells about the show as if it hasn’t started airing yet? The magazine date clearly states February/March 2013, and LPS premiered way back in November 2012.

That was pretty much my case as well,except that MLP(with the exception of MLP Tales) setting wasn’t the typical high school setting that lots and lots of teenage sitcoms and teenage cartoons have used to death(that is,of course the rumors about a high school setting turn out to be true).

I didn’t have ANY expectations for mlp, being that i watched the first ep out of curiosity due to a total lack of any information about it.

Everything about this premise screams “Generic with MLP name slapped right there” to me.
 
Heck,even Monster’s High has a bit of originality to an extent.

Well,at least if they are going to hate it,they should know properly what are going to hate.However,it wouldn’t surprise me if Equestria Girls ends up gaining some genuine fans.
 
Quite honestly though,they seem somewhat calm because they know this is just a spin-off that won’t affect the main series./mlp/ needs to realize this before they end up exploding the board.
 
One thing is for sure:We are going to watch this,no matter what the reasons are going to be,even if it just for harshly criticizing it and have drama.Given that the main series is going to be in hiatus for a little while until we get season 4,this should keep us at least entertained if just a bit.

I just wanna quickly say, I’m gonna give this spin off a chance. I mean hey, a couple of years ago if you told me in a few years I’d be spending a lot of time on a my little pony image hosting website I’d laugh my head off.
