She was going on a vision quest through the spirit cave in this chapter. There was a little bit of the Swamp quest in Point Lookout in there and also some inspiration from the Vision Cave scene in Gendy Tartokovsky’s clone wars cartoon. Her younger self needed help getting out of the cave.

Judging by the fact that the air is acid-green, there may be a gas that directly affects the psyche of the pony, as in the case of swamps. Equestria Fallout is practically a pony version of the original fallout and such a feature can also be in principle.
