Fun fact. Fires are actually one of the healthiest things that can happen to a forest. Some trees can’t even grow unless their seeds are first burned. The only reason fires get as bad as they do is because of the neglect they receive, which causes so much debris and dropped wood to build up on the forest floors that it’s just inevitable that fires will grow out of control thanks to so much perfect fuel. If people actually got up and cleaned the forests regularly (logging dead or dying trees, removing fallen trees, cleaning out old fallen leaves) then fires would never get as bad as they do now. Nature survived how many years without us humans stopping fires? Smokey the Bear has only caused worse fires to break out.
