Description
Not a street urchin or being abused in any way, but living in a local orphanage with a bunch of other fillies and colts. I really think it would add some dimension to her character, and I hope that Rainbow would be able to look past her usual brash and abrasive attitude and opt to take care of her.
That was directly addressed in the show as newborn unicorns having powerful unstable magic which they presumably lose when they get older. Not really the same situation.
…actually, Scootaloo looks more like Applejack than Fluttershy…
Apple Bloom’s, for example.
Wait. She is an orphan. Bad example…
I can live with the idea of Scootaloo being an orphan, but not being disabled. That would be heartbreaking, because she really wants to fly.
Anyway, we all know that her mother is Fluttershy.
Har har har
So far Scootaloo does not come across as a character who is completely neglected, but she has a need for an older sister figure who shares her interests and understands her as a pegasus, and that’s a need that her caregivers– whoever they are– can’t fill.
The mane 6 (at least for Twilight and Rarity certainly) have living parents, and seem to be quite relevant in their lives in some way, but the parents are never brought up in converation, unless they’re shown outright to the audience.
My fundamental point is, I like the idea. Happy now?
I feel like if Scootaloo’s parents were relevant in her life, she’d at least mention them, even negatively.
No, it’s really not irrelevant at all if you’re saying they should stick to her idea and it wasn’t her idea.
It’s also been established that unicorns are able to rip apart iron locks at ages much younger than the age at which Twilight Sparkle had difficulty turning a page.
Thank you. This is why I am getting so tired of people in general. Because there are so many people who think darkness automatically equals depth. Those people think that it would be deep for EVERY character in the show to be a disabled orphan.
Here’s an idea. If the show isn’t deep enough for you, watch it high.
I don’t know. Maybe Scootaloo could be a rebel BECAUSE her parents (if she has any) smoother her and such. Toph from the Avatar series had parents that smothered her and were overprotective of her well-being (since she was blind), and she too was a rebel.
But that is neither here nor there.
That. Was not. Faust’s idea. This fandom is just retarded and fell for the most transparent hoax of all time.
I guess there’s a reason they are “WHITE” knights, at least in the case of things like this being “white” in the Reactionary sense.
“You’re different, I have to protect you by hiding the fact that you are different as if it was an illness TRULY I AM A GOOD PERSON!”
Why can’t Scootaloo ever have it that she’s happy without the fear of being an orphan or disabled? It just seems it would be sad just for sadness’ sake and nothing more.
@Zincy
I’m pretty sure throughout the series so far they have been sticking to Lauran Faust’s plans for Scootaloo being physically disabled. She has not once shown any ability to fly, even when newborn foals have shown a capability to do so. And even when she does use her wings on the odd occasion they don’t have any more lift than what an injured or clipped bird would have.
So, though it hasn’t been outright stated she is hadicapped, it’s been applied fairly consistently throughout the show even after Faust left. Though, I would like to see an episode that addresses this outright as much as I would like an episode that confirms her for being an orphan or under the guardianship of some other family, even if it’s a sort of foster care program.
