These two were commissioned as a pair, so I tried to make them “interact” with each other through their expressions and height difference. Thus the final products can be posed in two different scenarios; the two of them staring awkwardly into each others’ eyes, or Parsee looking annoyed because Yuugi is checking out her ass. The possibilities are endless!

She may not look it but Yuugipone was one of my more technically difficult customs. For one thing, I had to alter her proportions to give her the larger stature I always draw her with. I cut up and resculpted her face, legs, neck and midsection to make them all longer. I didn’t have to re-pose her raised hoof, thank god; her body bait is the Twilight Sparkle that came with Yukari’s Celestia, which comes in a raised-hoof alternate pose. Her head was based on a Pinkie head to get the right eye shape.

She was also difficult because of her massive sculpted hair. I had the damndest time translating her hairstyle from drawing to 3D. Especially since I’ve only done one other sculpt-hair custom before this batch…I think I need a little more practice before I reach OtakuSquirrel levels of hair sculpting. :P I do like the little bit of movement suggested in her tail.

Again, a lot of the design comes from my headcanons about the actual Touhou…I did her horn as a kind of blade shape, flattish, a little curved, and coming to an edge in the front, rather than an even cone. I interpreted her hair as being in two layers; a short one around her head and then a long one in the back, hence the little fauxhawk on her neck and the ruffle on top of her tail. I don’t know how well that translated, but hey, it looks okay.

Parsee was fun because she’s such a contrast to Yuugi, who is this big, vivacious, brilliant ogress while Parsee is a drab, soggy little bridge troll. The only thing the poor girl has going for her are her intense green eyes, so I put a lot of loving care into them. Like Yuugi I mixed and matched her head and body to get the right eye shape; her head is from Feathermay and her body is Pinkie’s. Fortunately the batch after her called for a pegasus with a dehorned Twilight Sparkle head, so you see, all this headswapping worked out in the end!

I altered her bait as well, truncating the legs to emphasize her height difference with Yuugi and re-posing her ears to be pinned back in irritation. I did one of those expression resculpts I am so fond of to give her mouth a little grimace of jealousy. Because what is Parsee without self-inflicted unhappiness?

Her hair was much easier to sculpt than Yuugi, but it is hilariously heavy. For both ponies, I broke them up into several sculpted components (in the case of Parsee’s hair, quite literally broke it up) and painted everything separately. Then glued them back together, spread Apoxie over the seams, and painted it, with pretty good results!

I had a good time making these, and I was sad to see them go. I’m glad to hear that they have arrived safe and sound at the commissioner’s place!

Recommission Status
Unfortunately I am just not up for replicating customs right now, so these two are not recommissionable until further notice.
