Analogue? Without computer chips. Or at least, early stage of digital.
No really it is. To my knowledge, our smartphones and other touchscreen devices are designed to read our fingers or skin come into contact, such as friction and heat.
Unless Ponies designed their touchscreens to read hooves.
It looks like she’s flying like a regular Pegasus to me.
The impression of the guard’s wing shoulders was correct; they were too weakly developed for an active life as flying creatures. So when the magic returns, it will take them time to get used to flying.
I fear modern technology truly does exist in Equestria.
Is that canterlot?
That’s an interesting analysis.
I wouldn’t mind ponies with computers and TVs. My pony comes from a world with those.
In any case, the information that the magic is absent in the movie, is simply hard to believe, since all magical beings have internal magic in them, such as the pegasi, earth ponies and unicorns. We saw this in the G8 final where Cozy Glow stole the magic from anyone who was magical at the time, including the pegasi
s ability to fly - the wings give them the ability to counteract gravity. If the magic is gone, it gets a little too tailored instead of general, because it is well understood in both G1 and G4 that there is a magical background that permeates the whole world where the ponies live. Then we got a controversy with significant logical flaws in the movie long before it comes out. So I look a little closer at the recording that shows Pipp in motion, and then a little closer at how the hover slides on top of the touch screen. Unsure, the resolution is not good, but it appears that a flash of light could be seen on the underside of the hover. Could this be magical manipulation or a creative use of the pegasi
s ability to generate electricity? We have not seen the touch screen itself, but I think it is very different from our own, what we have that can get closer are perhaps these for the disabled who could not use their fingers well enough. The background is still interesting, because it looks like Pipp is not in the skyscraper with the two pegasi guards there. Firstly, the weather is different, secondly, the construction of the walls is different, being based on masonry blocks that appeared to be of the same type as in Canterlot`s royal castle. Lots of bronze cladding and gilded surface - the colors will not be out of place in Canterlot. It is obvious that Pipp is not in Canterlot, but the architectural style of Canterlot was obviously not obsolete with time and is still attractive to the ponies.
There’s no need to be as dismissive as that.G4 was the more successful of MLP incarnations so far and the longest so it’s inevitable that people are going to have gripes over what is perceived as a deviation from a winning formula people are acustomed to for 10 years
If you pay attention to the franchise, every generations is very different from the one that came before so it’s not a big shock for me.You can argue they have less wiggle room if they try to follow in G4 footsteps but if it’s a timeskip as in theorized by the fandom, technology developing is not a big shocker
I wonder what enterprises collect new smartphones? maybe this is all happening in the land of Griffins or Zebras? where you can cheaply collect smartphones and sell in Equestria. xD
G1 had their butt-bows, I suppose G5 is going to have its own fetish-fuel.
the fanartists on their way to make lewds out of this:
>Pegasi really are going for the art deco look here. I like it.
>Pipp has gilded hooves. I find that inexplicably attractive.

Okay, G4 purist.

They’re probably uncommon. I mean, there’s probably lots of fiction books we don’t know! Pretty sure there are stories that mix magic and technology there.
Urban fantasy can be good, too. Offhand, I can’t even think of any urban fantasy with anthropomorphic animals as the main characters. Or any urban fantasy where magic is an integral part of everyday life along with technology (usually it’s just a secret magical world in the background which most people don’t know about). I’m sure those exist, but they aren’t very common.
