I don’t have much problems with the design personally. They could of course be more diverse, but it works. What iffs me though is the fact that AJ and RD are wearing skirts like everyone else, something which I personally don’t think fit their characters. Especially not AJ whom is a hardworking farmer. But maybe I’m wrong.
I’m just kind of glad they didn’t give Rarity and Twi horns. Hopefully they have magical hands or whatever instead. Humanized ponies with horns have always just looked goofy to me. I’m cautiously optimistic that this will work out okay.
@bboifatz
Winged humans make sense. Horned humans do not. For all we know, they Rarity and Twilight cast magic with their hands.
Is it really “defensive rebranding” when it’s what market trends show the target audience wants? They’re doing this to compete with Monster High, after all.
Two of the characters aren’t even the right pony race.
Also, the latter image showed us something new that we hadn’t already seen. The second one shows us a mutilated version of the former that has been defensively re-branded to fall back on tired old cliches.
I don’t think it’ll be an actual TV show but I kind of want it to be because there’s no way to reconcile the current art with anything sane, which means that, good or bad, it’d probably be interesting at the least.
On the bottom, we have six half-anthro/half-human girls wearing clothes.
I don’t have a problem with Equestria Girls, but god-fucking-damn it, just give Applejack a pair of shorts and remove Rainbow’s pointless skirt.
(As you probably can tell, I’m not too fond of ‘overused-overly-girly-skirts’)
THE TOP ONE ISN’T AS STUPID.
I am.
Just your opinion. I think they’re kind of cute.
THIS.
Well, you are definitely in the minority. But I’m siding with you on this.
I am. This could be really good. :)
I’ll give any new animated show a try.
I’m still planning on a Littlest Pet Shop marathon later on. The characters are stories are more fun than I had expected. :)
Ok. The anthro design is horrible ;)
They are clearly going the Monster High way. It is so obvious it hurts.
That’s the thing though: These aren’t humans. They’re anthro ponies.

I’ll be the first to admit they aren’t perfect, but yeah. They are far superior to those.
They sure look much better than the ones “leaked” last month.
Maybe it’s just the 66 minute DVD movie.
Have to admit, the designs have begun to grow on me.
