I mean so far I’d agree with that.
I don’t believe Dash knows how to fake a dead pulse. The best we can hope for is that Rarity has access to some sort of miracle cure, or Octavia is lying to goad Spike into anger.

You forget: if we don’t see them die, than they are still alive. And Spike isn’t beserking at the moment, so he does think instead of just do.
Priorities. Random fish lady snapped the captains arm and is now strangling his crew mate on a ship in the ocean with no where to go or call for help.
Best bit of help he has is whats in his hands right now.
Wont be long before hes next. Or left there alive to remind him of his failure.

My guess is either Spike will once again go Spikezilla or AJ will step in and start a slugfest with Tavimaru
If it turns out that it (somehow) was a setup to teach Spike that lesson and Octavia is with them - sure, then i agree and see some logic in it.
But if Octavia is really an enemy (with magical fucking powers to cut bullets in mid-air also they would not lose velocity after being cut…) then this just shows how incompetent all of the characters are.
You seem to not realize that this is for Spike to realize that hesitation is fatal.
