That’s because the Storm asking was about to turn the Mane Six (mostly Twilight) into obsidian because she was about to made all four princesses turn into obsidian statues but Tempest just blocks the last obsidian orb that hits her in the chest but she’s still charging right towards the Storm King who fell to his death and smashed into bits while Temepest survived and was de-petrified by the Staff of Sacanas now used by Twilight, Twilight used the Staff of Sacanas to return the magic back to the alicorn princesses and possibly the rest of Equestria including Derpy, de-petrified the Storm King’s victims including. The first three princesses and Derpy, and restored, repaired, and liberated Canterlot, Ponyville, Cloudsdale, the Everfree Forest, the Crystal Empire, Manehattan, Appleloosa, Las Pegasus, and the rest of Equestria, undo all the destruction, wreckage, and slaughter the Storm King, Tempest, Grubber, and the Storm King’s troops, guards, and armada have caused, and free all the inhabitants across Equestria from the Storm King’s control, wrath, tyranny, punishment, slavery, captivity, imprisonment, darkness, clutches, and conquering.

Yeah, Tempest was trying to save Twilight, but it was still awesome to see AJ and Dash go on the defensive for their friend.

Is it because the Mane Six except Twilight think that Tempest was about to attack them?

I always loved the way Rainbow Dash and Applejack leaped to Twilight’s defense without hesitation.
