Likewise. Hell, even some of Faust’s ideas I disagree with (such as wanting to make scootaloo disabled).

This is leading me to wonder if, during season 1, the writers were being kept in the “Faust box” (i.e. a very rigid set of instructions on what can and cannot be done show wise)

This. I cannot for the life of me fathom as to what brought about this visible negative paradigm shift within the fandom.

I somehow get the feeling that the current show staff are getting a lot of shit for “not adhering to Faust’s ‘plans’”

What is it with everyone making mountains out of molehills?

Yeah, the season finale was a bit rushed, but it wasn’t bad, hell I enjoyed it more than the season 1 finale.

Also, I’d like to add that this isn’t a political election. If they have the support of a simple majority but not the rest, losing the support of that minority hurts a lot more, and if the show continues in this direction it’s going to keep getting worse.

the poll on equestria daily before it aired showed people mostly don’t care as long as they get ponies

you aren’t in the majority, deal with it

The fact that this whole thing happened has already caused a rift between us. that’s what I dread most. plus, I did not believe they can crawl out of this poorly timed story twist that is too soon and unprepared. Since the finale aired, I’ve seen more conflicts between fans, especially towards people who disliked the finale (and alicorn) as they are minority which surprised me.

And there’s the matter of mischaracterization of the ponies, how they portray the episodes based what they do more instead of relying on the mane 6’s character. Without it, the show is quickly losing the charm it had from S1.

….

I tried my best to love the ponies, I do.
but the show and the staff that seemed to me cannot stand by their words, or I simply unable understand them coz’ I’m no american.

forgive for being cynical :(

PS:any weird words may be caused by me just waking up.

All the people saying they’re ditching the show after S3 should probably see this. It might get them to chill a bit.

I had no beef with S3 personally. God, I hope we don’t become like the Sonic fanbase, and people start whining that every new episode, or every change to the series is “bad” constantly.
(And before anyone yells at me, I AM a Sonic fan. I’m allowed to make fun of my own fanbases.)

I’ll believe it when I see it, Meghan. You’ve let me down numerous times.
From what I can tell, that line that was meant to make the internet explode failed to live up to its promise.

There is no way to know without conducting a large-scale survey or poll. Is it really that hard to accept that a lot of fans didn’t like the Season 3 finale? Even the show’s staff have accepted it.

To be fair, though, I think it’s not everyone. From what I’ve determined, we just have a small group of people making a lot of noise about it, and those few refuse to be consoled about anything.

On Twitter, I follow a fairly large number of folks who are into ponies. Most of the “fandom drama” exploding everywhere else is conspicuously silent on my timeline.

I think there are a large number of people who do still enjoy watching ponies. They just prefer not to deal with the drama at all. People are far less likely to be really vocal about anything if they’re happy with something.

Though it does make me wonder how many are actually relying on ponies for their own happiness, like a band-aid for larger issues, and then some folks get really upset when it doesn’t deliver.

I won’t lie; it’s a bit concerning when I’ve heard some fans say time and again that “ponies have cured my depression”, but those fans have not taken more steps to take care of themselves.

It’s not everyone, but it makes me wonder if Season 4 is going to bring a good portion of unhappy fans because some are hoping that a TV show will fix their issues. I’m pretty sure there will some that will still and always be inconsolable.

Sesame Street did it well long ago, but I can’t think of many other shows that also covered the subject. The 2011 Thundercats (sad it never got renewed, though at least CN recognized it for their 20th anniversary last year… Sym-Bionic Titan and Robotomy got no mentions whatsoever) had that one episode with the race of flower people who go through their whole life in a day but to them it feels like years, Sym-Bionic Titan had “Tashy 497,” and I think Avatar touched on it a bit (even giving an “in memory of” dedication to Mako), but I don’t know if any of these shows did it on the same level as Sesame Street.

Yeah, I don’t know either. And I agree. A thoughtful episode on death and grieving could teach a valuable lesson to the target demo while also driving some good character development. It’d be great for the show–if the writers could pull it off well.
