Yeah, you got that right. The Sun is strong in the world of MLP (especially when you take Celly into account, as well :D)
There’s probably Sunny’s in the previous Gens as well, I’d be surprised if Sunrise/Sunset/Sunshine hasn’t been used at least once per generation. :)
Not to mention that even within just FiM, you’ve also got Sunburst, who can be shortened to “Sunny” too. :)
I guess that means there are two Sunny characters in MLP now. And no, you cannot convince me that Sunny Starscout isn’t an actual MLP character. Both Sunset Shimmer and Sunny Starscout are characters in MLP from different generations, and they both look adorable to me.
