Masquerade left in the middle of the night leaving Flurry feeling abandoned and hurt. Because of this she promised herself that she would never again be fooled by someone claiming to be her friend. Not only had Masquerade left without saying goodbye, she left her foal behind. Flurry adopted the changeling filly and made sure that the castle never told her who her real mother was.
 
Normally Flurry wore her hair tied up but after taking over from her mother Cadence as reigning Princess of the crystal empire she kept it down, feeling it made her look more like a ‘proper princess’. Flurry was a kind Princess looking after her people and kind to those in her empire… But when it came to extending her hoof to new friends or other species she was hesitant. Twilight tried to comfort her niece, Masquerade had said in her letter that she left to control the changelings, she didn’t want them to attack Equestria which was what would happen without a Queen to lead them. It wasn’t Masquerade’s fault the changeling just knew that the Princess would never let her leave.
 
Flurry did form alliances with others, dragons, griffons, yaks, the alliances they shared were strong even if they had been hard won. Flurry Heart upheld tradition within the Empire, she was their princess, her regalia designed to look like her grandmothers, Princess Amore.
